I also purchased the aluminum kit because i am building a Voron with a build space of 500x500x600mm. For that purpose i also enhanced the frame using 40x40 dual slot profiles and 68Ncm motors. With the aluminum kit i had 2 experiences i want to share: 1. You cannot follow the assembly guide exactly because some screws have to be shortened due to threads not being bore through like on the printed plastic parts. 2. More important is the fact that the tiny about 1mm high guiding ridges which should slide into the slots of extruded profiles are machined to a width of 6mm. The most recent BOM from Voron Design asks for profiles 20x20mm slot 5. If you buy such profiles you cannot be shure what you will receive. There are profiles around with outer slot width of 5 and 6 mm. The aluminum kit parts will only fit with the 6mm wide slots.
How has the build come along so far? Very tempted to swap out my printed parts for all metal in hopes to have it last longer and keep the gantry from becoming non level so often.
Have you printed it already with the kit? Just curious how heavy is the XY gantry with the aluminum part instead and does it affect or produce ringing? I'm looking to buy too the aluminum kit but people saying it's too heavy for it.
I'm not sure how that bed is going to mount. The heater shouldn't go all the way to the edges of the bed. Don't install the bed until the very last step. Once the printer is completely wired up. You have to turn it upside down and right side up a few times and that's more difficult with the bed installed.
nice video, Maverick. i just found your channel. I want to build an all metal voron too. Can i ask where did you get the kit from? can you share a link? Thank you.
