The teenager that still lives in me that only wanted to skate, listen to GWAR watch their movie's, party with hot girls, get loaded, crash, wake up and do it all again for years. That part of me is crushed!!! GWAR has always been there for me no matter where I was in life. Thru school they were touring and putting out albums. After graduation they were still touring and putting out albums. Move out get older they were always there touring and putting out albums. Seen GWAR a few times live and always hung out and met the band who were always cool enough to talk with me and sign autographs. To think that might be over is almost too much to take in!!! Dude - I'm right there with you - this last month has been fucking hell - Dave Brockie is my favorite fucking musician - I have been listening to this band since I was 13. 24 years later and I still love them and their music.
I made the mistake of listening to their album Hello, then America must be destroyed but when I put in This toilet earth I almost lost it. You know how you can't see something in your mind till you think about it in context. The second I heard Saddam a go go. I was instantly taken to the front row of the 2nd or 3rd Gwar show I saw. Seeing my friends covered in gwar blood and knowing I looked the same. Then the thought its all over. I'll never hear Brockie(Oderus)'s voice live again or the shows. I'm sure there's those that are just laughing this off as another rockstar death. But to so many it was so much more, our lives are in those lyrics and songs. I'm pretty lost right now and....idk? Things will never be the same,N8knox
I have been listening to america must be destroyed for the last two weeks - I remember being 15 and wanting to play like flattus and balsac so bad. Now I can - I sing and play guitar in a comedy shock rock band - Brockie and Gwar have been my biggest influence. I last saw them in October of 2012. It was Pustulus maximus's first show with Gwar. I missed them when they were here several months back. The thought of never seeing Gwar with Oderus again makes me miserable and puts me in a dark fucking place. People can call me obsessed - they can go fucking die - I hope Dave and Cory are ripping it up in a better place. A new Gwar cd is like fucking a nice tight pussy. Ha ha
Yeah your right about that. Maybe even better. I think it was in 1992 or so when I took Scumdogs of the Universe to my guitar teacher and said I wanna learn this. Gwar was almost like the Ramones of shock rock/metal. Always there touring and putting out albums no matter how old you got. They were always there. I missed the last couple times Gwar came thru thinking i'll catch em next time. Now I'm kicking myself in the head for not going. Just blows!!!
GWAR has been on my radar ever since the 80's when I was a teenaged girl. I don't care how long it's been but a world without the wit, spontaneity and over the top raunchy humor of Dave Brockie is an exceedingly dim world to live in. The climate for we little people who aren't Trumps or Kardashians has become way too uptight and depressing. Seriously, now more than ever we need the strange, bizarre improv comedy of a guy like Brockie to shake up all these suit wearing, tight assed people and their constricting rules of behavior.
