hmm.... why use a high speed camera to watch the pitch and roll through the corners when they could have just dropped a few mpu-6000's into the car? shoot... they could have just mounted a betaflight flight controller in the car and recorded all the gyro data and matched that up against the tele data from the radios. These days, you could even use a radiomaster mt12, put a flight controller in the car, wire an rx to the fc, and use that setup to overlay inputs to motion data from the accelerometer and gyro.... high speed cameras seem like a pretty brute force way to get the data...
Why now with the long arms? I had a Kyosho in the 90's with long arms and a 1 inch wide chassis @ the bulkheads. F1/Indy and some off-road has been doing this since the beginning of time.
my absolute guess is that long arms and a narrow chassis is better for high grip, but also less durable (chassis will bend easier and the leverage on the arm will snap the arm easier). when lose dirt and rough tracks were popular, wide chassis and shorter arm did well, and was more durable overall, so that was the choice. Now that high grip is more popular, taking the performance increase at reduced durability is the compromise, plus materials have come a long way, so maybe durability isnt a concern? just a guess. everything is a trade off but as times change, so do your design choices.
I feel like they are trying to show us all this effort so we don't get terrified of the high price. I hope I'm wrong and it's in line with current offerings
having parts on had only saves you the print time, not the build time. if you blow up a car at 4am, your night is over if you have the parts or not lol.
