Thank you for the video, Tim. I was looking to replace the belt on my circa 1983 Thorens TD147. I think you nailed it with the Thorens part number 6800574. Ordered one today in hopes that it will fit the same as your TD160!
Love your videos, as I recently brought my TD 145 MK II out of storage and am in the process of tuning it up. In the 45 years I have owned it, I never lubricated the bearings. I checked the spin of the sub-platter as you do in the video, and it spins just like yours does after lubricating. Should I still go ahead and lubricate? Also, mine doesn't auto-lift at the end of a record, I don't recall whether it ever did. Were all 145s made with auto-lift? If so, can you do a video on checking that? Please continue posting videos like this, you are doing a great service. Thank you!!
Thank you, Alas, I do not have a TD-145 to attempt fixing the autolift. I hear they can be quite finicky. As for re-lubing, it wouldn't hurt if the oil is decades old to give it a change. If spinning good with no noticeable abrasion you are probably OK so your call.
@guilhermedealmeida2299 I am a Hydrocarbon Engineering Technologist by education (among many other quals), so I do know a thing or two about oils and lubes. 😁🤣 timothyflath.smugmug.com/Personal/Certs/i-k4RtRJ4
My experience with alignment of my thorens , there is a slight difference between the use of thorens gauge and the correct Barewald Protractor. So which one to use?
What is the overhang? I need to know so I can draw the Arc for 10.5 inch arm yes it's not going in it's original place cheers, or if anybody knows the overhang is for 10.5 inch arm ? used to be a website I can't remember what it is now
If you really want a head scratcher, then read this thread as far as you can: www.audiocircle.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=nlabd9817aubg3ier5hs2r9vnq&topic=70898.0
@@navydiving sure I will do cheers. What's the standard TD 160 mkll arm overhang then? what does that gauge say it is? I had a look it's all good but doesn't really help me! there used to be a website you don't know of it ? that gives you a spreadsheet of length of arms and overhang to given length, and other information like compliance that's what I need to know, otherwise I can't do anything on drawing the angle, till I know what the given overhang is for the length of arm at 10.5 inches 266.7mm
