its called friction , high speed spinning blade , impacting to flesh of the veg causing heat.

He Chris, add water to it and let it blend with the inner timer, then if you not satisfied with the consistency, wait one minute and spin it again. But you must at least give it one minute to rest so, it will not heat up like that. And just wanted to add that I just found out that The Nutribullet company said that after 6 to 8 months we have to change the blade for the "Nutribullet Select" and buy a new one. This is that wouldit's like you pay for 4 brand new blades and there you could have bought a new blender. ethically BecauseBLA BLA BLA to me now, the person advertising this on QVC.
