Part 6: 2015 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Duramax rebuild. The marathon weekend has arrived!

This was my Friday night and Saturday morning in my 2.5 day marathon to take the parts truck apart and swap all of our good parts from the original to put the truck back together. It must be ready to roll out of the shop Monday morning. It sounds like more work than it is. I actually got to relax with a little leftover time. We can finish up our dash and get the cab ready to go on the new frame.

It is a little more manageable when you break it down into little jobs like the first few videos. But who wants to watch that??? Good afternoon Scott, wow you could be a one-man assembly line for the GM truck plant here in Fort Wayne Indiana. I have taken three tours of that truck plant and every time it looks like the people are taking more parts off that were installed wrong, then were installed properly. You must have a photographic memory to know where everything and all parts go. As I've stated before I have to take reference photos of everything. Thanks for a great Friday afternoon video. Can't wait for next week's edition. You have a good week. Take care.

That is impossible, the factory only makes perfect products. All the problems come from that minor fender bender on the CarFax..... or at least that is what I hear from all the brainwashed people. lol If people only knew what went on with their vehicles before they got to the dealer lot. I have gotten in the habit of taking more pics but those so far are just a failsafe incase old age hits me all at once and I can't remember anything. I remember the important stuff like how to put cars together. However I can never remember where I put the tool I had 30 seconds ago. Although, goofing off this weekend and making a video, I did figure out a very unorthodox method to keep track of tools. Have a good week! Take care as well!

When I watch you removing parts, cabs, etc. And then assembling all of them back on. All I can thing of is how many thousands of people had to put it all together on an assembly line!!!! A friend of mine worked on that assembly line, (retired now). All he had to do was put the front seatbelts in the truck, handing on the drivers seatbelt to the other guy and then putting a few bolts on his side that hold the center console. He had just a little over two and a half minutes. We built Scouts where I worked, ( I mentoned that before), but it was much easier assembling the Scout then what is involved in the new vehicles that are built. I also have to chuckle when you comment on some of the things that had to be redone once in awhile. Blows my mind when I see, most of the time you are doing a whole assembly line wortth of work! Much of the time all alone. Keep up the the good work, I enjoy it very much.

I get to know all my truck on a very personal level. I like working alone, very few people can work with my level of efficiency. That being said, there are a few. When they help, the work we can do in a short time even amazes me. If you watch my older time lapses the Yukon, Sierra and C1500HD there is a friend of mine with me the entire day and we have fun goofing of as well as getting work done. He would be there everyday if he was not 2 hours away. The others come and go for minutes at a time when I just need an extra pair of hands. Thanks for watching!

Great videos love them .... I always used guitar wire to remove windshields just have to b careful in the corners depending on the vehicle

Thanks, we still use the wire for windows occasionally. Windshields never go well for me no matter what I use. lol Thanks for watching.

Dude,i WISH i knew about the wrench trick for the ebrake cable clip!!!!! Damn it, the struggling that thing caused!!!
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
I'm here to help! I did struggle with them as well. I actually own the correct tool. Once I did not have it with me and I went back to the struggle. After about 5 minutes it dawned on me that I could use a wrench. So I struggled, learned, struggled and learned again so don't feel bad I had to learn TWICE. lol Thanks for watching.

@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
I actually like editing these better. They are a little harder to film but I am getting a little more efficient at that. I'll still have the time lapses for people that want to see the whole job and because it is how I started. The new camera really opened doors for me here and it has only been around for 6 months. Thanks for watching.

I was wondering, what would you say is the best way to remove spot welds when changing panels? I like that parking brake wrench trick, I always just struggled with pulling and pushing the pins in with a screwdriver. Do you run into programming issues with swapping parts around?
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
The removing welds will be the next tutorial after this truck is finished. I will show a couple different methods and why some are better than others and why and where. I'm using all the modules from the original truck so no programming SHOULD be required. Unless, I don't know, one of those modules happens to be no good. Thanks for watching.
