Wow..i just watched your episode of Land & Sea, " No Place Like It" (part 1), and had to come check out your RU-vid videos. This video is so well done and gorgeous and incredibly informative. I can't wait to watch all your other RU-vid videos. I've only been to a small portion of the southern Labrador coast back in the summer of 2018 and only for 3 days, and I fell in love. Getting to see these places that I can't see myself through your videos has made me so happy. I've always still wanted to go back and explore more...seeing the spots you've visited just reminds me why we probably share the same reasons for wanting to see and understand the history of these places: there's something just so captivating about these forgotten places. Thanks again for making such beautiful videos. Definitely a fan. Please keep them coming!!

Awesome. As a sailor and as a person living in Newfoundland for so long now, I can also attest to majestic and phenomenal beauty of the island of Newfoundland, especially seen and visited from the waters and shores. Newfoundland is one of the best kept secret on this planet.

Outstanding job Ed, bravo! I had the pleasure to tie up in several of these very communities in 2016 with Joanne on our trip up to southern Labrador , what a rush of memories as I watched your video. Your editing skills continue to improve not to mention, very well researched. I expect to see you on Land and Sea at some point, lol. Thanks for sharing with all of us - you must be proud. Pat

Wow, Ed. An incredible video and an even more incredible trip! I think all of us who sail probably do so for the same reason... seeing what many others do not and doing so in an unhurried way. You're bringing it to all the others.

Got the recommendation for this video from Dan Walker via my friend and erstwhile doctoral supervisor Neil Kennedy at MUN. So lovely. I never got to be in Newfoundland in the summer. As a southerner through and through (Lat 34N), I still have the occasional bad dream about winter there, but I also vividly remember how beautiful it could be on the deck of our cottage on Conception Bay in Portugal Cove.

A great video. In 2015 my wife and I sailed from NS to NL and cruised the west coast of the island with a brief run to south Labrador. Our intention was to circumnavigate the island. We wintered the boat in Lewisporte. In 2016 we headed back to Labrador for one last visit, then in 2017 we went back for another last visit. In 2018 she agreed to a very last visit and we got as far north as Black Tickle, after stopping in almost every community (abandoned as well) along the way. In early 2019 I suggested we go again and was surprised that she agreed. Like you said, I don't know what it is that draws me back but I can not get enough of the place. I need a drone but am afraid of losing it in the sea. My little boat draws a lot of raised eyebrows when people find out where we have been. Thanks again. Maybe I will see you in Labrador in 2020 as I go for my absolutely last final visit.......maybe!

Another GREAT production Ed... so-o-o appealing! ps, summer '67 I sailed on MV Hopedale (a steward) on Green Bay/White Bay run (Lewisporte to Conche+). Seem the communities in "living" state, particularly remember Wiliamsport- the smoke 'n smell. More recent years have sailed from Jackson's Arm to Soufletts River (of Danny Corcoran fame). For sure, amazing piece of this Earth!
@EdOReilly

Thanks Derek, I didn't think what the smell would have been like at the Whaling Factory. I imagine it was pretty potent!!
