The last Marian parade that I saw was way back in the mid 90's... Back then, people lined the streets of Intramuros to watch the procession of Mama Mary's images. Yesterday, only the piety congregated at Manila Cathedral, and only the participants joined the procession. And yes, the occassional pilgrim like me and some photographers who delighted in taking beautiful photos of the parade were the ones waiting in the not so crowded streets far from the cathedral.
It's still a beautiful spectacle to watch. I did say a prayer to Mama Mary. I asked her to bring me always to her son, our Lord.
