I wished I had got into this profession when I left school. Too late for me now at 42 with lower back issues. I still like watching the craft though. Well done.

I like when you punch & draw your sideclips that you don't gouge too much steel leaving a large source hole, yet they're substantial looking clips with a strong base

Never thought I would actually see some make horse shoes. Even if it's on video. And I have worked on a couple of ranches. Good stuff.

Just found your channel. Awesome video. Me personally I'd like more real time footage and just edit out the boring parts instead of a time laps and no music. Just giving you some feed back absolutely not criticism! Can't wait to explore more of your channel.

i admire the background music.... but we preferred the no music.... we like the sound of the natural ambiance of a real blacksmith/farrier everyday sound... please can you make your future videos without music.

Do you work out to keep arms even? Or do smiths have a bigger body side due to dominance. Just curious.

I want to do this for fun. I'm pretty crafty. How much do you sell a full set (4) of shoes for?
@Shadeskast

Nice! Fine set!! So the million dollar question is why is concave shoes the choice to use in Europe? They are rarely used here in the states. Everyone state that it’s for traction but unless the rider isn’t cleaning the concave out they just get packed with debris.

Dirt on dirt is still good traction
@BunnyboilerBand

It’s the debris that produces the traction

We call them rim shoes and they are widely used in the US. Really good for barrel horses.

Cost is high it’s about 3 bucks a foot plus shipping when you get flat stock for a dollar

What's that can of yellow stuff you were dipping the pritchel in? I want to say it's beeswax, but I'm not quite sure...
@carpathianken
@carpathianken 2 года назад
You'd be correct in thinking that it's a can of beeswax.Beeswax is good for dipping air hardened tools in because it cools them gently while lubricating them at the same time. (Cooling tool steel in plain water can make it brittle) Some farriers/Blacksmiths heat their cans of beeswax to liquefy it & then add carbon powder into it, then when the beeswax cools & sets back into it's wax form it's lubricationing properties are increased.(Doing this gives it a distinctive grey colour thought.)
