(SILENT) An Excerpt from "Maine Canoe Trip," of the Sanders Family Collection. Film shot by Larry Lougee, guide was Henry Red Eagle, (Henry Perley) A Maliseet born in Greenville and was promoting Native American rights before the movement began. He was the first Native American to graduate from Greenville High School, guide, trapper, drugstore clerk, lumberjack, log driver, vaudeville performer, silent movie actor, trombone player, lecturer, and more. This film was possibly promotional footage for the Moosehead Lake region. Route Followed: Greenville to Rockwood on Moosehead Lake; Northeast Carry; Penobscot River (West Branch) to Lobster Pond; across Chesuncook Lake to Umbazookskus Stream; Mud Pond Carry to Chamberlain Lake; to Telos Lake and Caffalos Pond; Churchhill and Eagle Lakes; Smith Brook to Haymock Lake; return to Moosehead Lake.
