In this video, I cover the details of how how to conduct and interpret the results of a partial correlation in SPSS. I walk you through what a partial correlation is, how to run the analyses in SPSS, how to interpret the results, and give and give you a chance to try it yourself.
This SPSS tutorial series is designed to teach you the basics of how to analyze and interpret the results of data using SPSS. I will cover everything from the very basics of the main windows within SPSS, to manipulating data, to running and interpreting meaningful analyses like t-tests, ANOVA, regression, and many more, and visualizing results.

Is it possible to do a partial correlation between two continuous variables while controlling for a ordinal variable? What about the opposite - two categorical/ordinal variable while controlling for a continuous variable?

When controlling for multiple variables (say a total of 3), do you just add the additional variables to the "controlling for" box or would you run 3 separate partial correlations with 3 different controlled variable outputs?

Once you're dealing with that many variables, you really should switch over to multi-variable correlation. I have a video on the topic here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-stRCK4_hhSA.html

@@DataDemystified Thanks for your super quick reply! So I'll be doing a hierarchical regression as my main analysis and want to do a partial correlation as my descriptive stats. For the partial correlation, I want to know the relationship between 2 variables while controlling for 3 others. Can I not do this with a partial correlation on spss? And if I can, is it okay to put all the confounding variables into the "controlling for" box at the same time?
