On October 14th, 2023, I used the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 super zoom camera to take pictures and video of the partial solar eclipse. If you're not familiar with the P1000 then you'll be surprised how close it can zoom in to the sun which is about 93 million miles (150 million kilometers) away from the earth. It's like having a telescope! And if you are familiar with the P1000, then a solar eclipse is perhaps the ultimate super zoom test! I wasn't in the direct path of this full annular eclipse, but I was able to get pictures and video of the moon covering about 80% of the sun… which is a lot! Plus, there were some interesting sun spots that day.
Thanks for watching!
