Purchased Particles as a kit when it first came out, and admittedly, much like Molten Modular, I didn't fully grasp the full potential of this incredible trigger calculator. Recently got it back in the rack, and I've been so inspired by what it can do! - Truly a fantastic tool for musical composition and rhythmic sound design.
@@ari_shark Thank you for your comment, I’m very happy you are enjoying Particles! I know it’s a difficult module but when it’s understood it can be very inspiring indeed.
This is a super cool module! I’d only seen bits of it in patches here and there but nowhere really explained it all that well. This is really great for that and it looks like it may be a module I’ll need to try. I’m trying to sort out a couple modules to build up a flexible beat sequencing kinda thing. Right now I use a the Bard Quartet for quantizing and love how flexible it makes patches and now I’m almost looking to integrate a similar workflow for rhythm. Originally I was thinking it would be particular sequencers and switches but this module makes me think another way is possible.
Yes I’m preparing more videos, use every trig input and output and try to build patterns with different combinations, is very rewarding when experimenting.
@@patchingpanda thankyou for your great work! Im still a bit confused on how Shift, Absorb, Bypass and Gater work. Would really appreciate if you could explain these in more detail. Otherwise Im really enjoying this module, it has great potential. My idea is to use it to generate drum rolls and other fills.
Great demo, very helpful. Would it be possible with a fw update to add more possibilities to the repetition distributions? I’d also love some control over trigger length. Awesome module and a nice build.
@@patchingpanda great! Since it’s clocked, using odd repetitions and/or distribution could create even more rhythmic variations, especially when combined with absorb and probability. It makes sense to me: you can make different and more complex rhythmic cycles. The reset triggers for controlling random shift is really inspiring!
Hi, mate! Big fan of your modules here :) i am looking forward to buy a particles but, now, sorry for the offtopic: what's the deal with that new "PUNCH"? when will it be available? what is it called (i am not sure i read correctly "MG")? can't find nothing about it online, yet. thanks!
In the beginning, we had odd integers for distribution, but they have been removed because it was easy to get lost in nonmusical results where the users can be easily frustrated, it is possible to bring them back with no problem but will need to be an expert menu option or so, let me think how can be added.
@@patchingpandaI appreciate that design decision a lot. Right now I’m looking for a flexible, playable way to manipulate triggers on the fly without having to straight up step sequence. Good idea having odd integers available somehow though. In thinking about what kind of module I’d want, I’d almost want the ability to add or remove distributions or clock div/mults. It makes me think of the same way you use a quantizer.
