Dave interviews Wendy and Patricia from Pollinator Pathway Northwest, a project initiated at 21 Acres, a center for sustainable education and collective action, with the creation of a demonstration pollinator garden (see below).
Pollinator Pathway Northwest originated from a desire to address the critical plight of pollinators. Volunteers quickly expanded their focus to mobilize the larger community in providing essential pollinator habitats. Drawing inspiration from a similar initiative in the Eastern US, the vision for a corridor of pollinator-friendly plantings across the Pacific Northwest emerged. This effort aims to engage and educate citizens to create abundant and healthy habitats for pollinators.
Pollinator Pathway NW volunteers are dedicated to supporting local agriculture by promoting pollinator health. Their mission includes encouraging the planting of pollinator-friendly gardens or planters with native Northwest plants, advocating for the cessation of pesticide use, and sharing knowledge with friends, neighbors, and family.
The initiative is backed by founding partners: 21 Acres, Sammamish Valley Alliance, the Sammamish Valley Grange, and Coastal Community Bank.
