Hadiya Reese Was a toss up between Suvi or Vetra for the first romance because of said voice. Suvi won out because she is human, but on this second run, Vetra is gonna get some loving.
Who else is annoyed by SAM constantly telling you about the weather change? SAM: "The ambient temperature is falling." Me: "WHERE IS YOUR MUTE BUTTON?!"
@@nam9085 it’s been years since I played this, but from what I remember if you hunt down every little piece of lore it’s implied the ark ships left after the attack on the citadel but before Shepard is resurrected - plenty of wiggle room for Liam to have been on Omega & meet Garrus as Archangel
@@nam9085 I think it was in the 6 months between ME2 and ME3. Alec says in one of the logs that they just barely got out in time. Either way, Liam would have been training for the initiative by the events of ME2, so not sure how he'd know about archangel unless he was taking his days off at Omega, lol
@@jennytalia6724 More like especially when all Im hearing is "Cora, wanted to ask..." Sam: Pathfinder, this area can be mined for resources. You can extract minerals via your mining interface. AND there goes the interesting banter.
It's amazing and annoying at the same time how so many semi-important character tidbits are never mentioned outside these banters. Cora's parents, Jaal's rifle. People can miss these and it'll hurt their character depth.
1:13:25 Jaal: *regarding their translators* "I doubt you could stump it." Liam: "Dachsunds with erections can't climb stairs!" Jaal: "Hmm...I...stand corrected." Holy shit, I would not have heard that exchange without videos like this. XD
This game absolutely deserves a sequel, & party banter w/ Jaal trying to understand all the milky way species & vice versa the team to Jaal & the Angara is so damn funny!
Jaal is a mad flirt. Cora, Ryder, Peebs... And Vetra is my spirit Turian. She has a thing for Suvi's accent, which i want to say sounds Scottish, but reading the wiki says her name is Finnish so.....
Isn't that accent supposed to be irish? I mean Cait is irish and they got the same VA. Regardless of that her having a finnish name doesn't mean anything, you grow up in Ireland you develop an irish accent no matter where your parents are from.
No comment about the accent, other than it's definitely not Finnish, but being a Finn myself, Suvi's name amused me greatly (too bad I'm not a Suvi myself - would've been even better :D)
It really bothers me how Vetra and Liam don't get along, it makes me... really sad. And it's Liam's fault- he was a dick to her and she was just trying to watch out for him. I wish they could've been better friends.
Once again the krogan has the best dialog Drak* whats the the smudge over the eyes? Trying to be a super hero Pb* whats with all the bones? trying to be a super villan? Drak* yes Pb* cooooool
Aww, it's nice when Cora laughs, that is a cute laugh, it matches her being just as cute and sweet, because she quite professional and strong and serious all the time at mos, then, we hear her laugh and that is a big "awww" moment I think, bless her.
I got that dialogue when i was trying to drive over a mountain and it got me by surprise. The fun thing is that i believed it was real at the beginning because i was romancing her xD
Vetra Nyx is like the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider of her people, the Turians, like how Garrus Vakarian is like the Agent 007, Bond...James Bond of Turians, can you imagine a spin-off TV Series or Mass Effect film with the two of them, the Daniel Craig and Eva Green, Vesper Lynd of Turians, solving crime and kicking butt and taking names and all. Garrus meeting Vetra after ordering the bartender's strongest drink, "Shaken, not stirred", after he introduces himself like Bond, "Vakarian, Garrus Vakarian". Before he looks to his left, or right and sees Vetra there. You can guess the rest, if Garrus is on a mission and all at the time.
While this may get me some flack, I think Liam character actually fits True he was a bit of a dick to Vetra But he is actually one of the most youthful members of the team and the only "civilian" member Drak and Vetra were both merks, Peebee a drifter and Jal and Cora are both milatree So is attitude toward life is vary different and nothing bugs soldiers quite like blind optimism Also bothe Cora and Drack are openly aggressive with him and has been mentioned he really does not click with Vetra And as for PeeBee I guess the writers thought he should say point out her negatives and how flighty she is and how she might not stick around a point she her self mentions
Incompetently: an elcor. I laughed to hard at this. They were literally my least favorite species, until i meet the collectors...then the kett. Still think the reapers were fucking awesome if not evil shit heads. Also this is why i love andromeda more than the originals, i know blaspheme! but still the characters feel more real, i guess its more due to the fact they arent military, but the originals always felt like they were made of plastic, made to fill a certain role and nothing else. this game takes character development very seriously and does it very well, the relationships you build and the ones you see grow, are all so much better. i really cant wait for the sequel even if we do have to wait for a 2 more fuckin years.
Well Liam at least Jaal likes you but that's because he's Jaal, and I mean that in a good way. Seriously when he's in the Nomad with anybody else Liam just seems to push people's buttons (pissing off a great character like Vetra is a real d**k move). I like Liam but I will admit he's my least used squadmate. Outside of his friendship with Jaal, movie night, and loyalty mission Liam just comes off as a little bland IMO.
I have to say, going through the general gist of the comments here, that I'm glad people are at least backing up and fleshing out their...distaste for Liam instead of just straight up bashing him. But for the life of me, I still can't get it. I mean, is he my personal favorite? No. But I really am having a headscratcher of a time understanding why everyone is calling him a dick. Or at least, MORE of a dick then all the others are sometimes to each other. Heck, to my perception, I can honestly point out instances where it's the _others_ being unreasonably snippy at him.But many just let it slide in those cases because they like the others better. And alot of the time, he actually brings up or exposes entirely valid points. He questions Cora's never questionning orders and lacking ability to think outside the box, and how that causes not just moral dilemnas, but practical ones for not just her, but all those around her. And as we see in her Loyalty Mission, he's dead on. He points out that Peebee is pretty much acting like a selfish oppurtunist, and what happens later? *Peebee ejects us onto a planet we can't get picked up from, narrowly missing getting us all dunked in lava.* But no, just because he doesn't go about saying this via snarky one-liners or by being smoother than can be reasonably expected of a normal person under such circumstnances, it's all just "him being a dick." I will admit that he's riding Vetra was a low point, and his _persistent_ "boneheadedness" can get a little exasperating, but really, is he truly any worse than, say, _Garrus?_ Whom, may I remind, for as much as he grew into becoming Best Bro over the course of the Original Trilogy, didn't exactly start out as the most patient or open-minded person ever, as evidenced by the very fact that he was a Cowboy Cop (huh, again just like Liam), and wasn't exactly all that tactful at first towards Wrex or Tali. Bottom line, is Liam the best character in Andromeda? Heck no.But, just like Garrus, does he deserve that we give him the chance to evolve over the course of this next saga, and potentially have us all go, years from now, "Wow, to think this is where he started?" Absolutely.
AllForFire You make some great points, and I personally don't hate Liam at all. Yes he can be a jerk and an idiot sometimes but so could Ashley, and she was my favorite love interest from the original trilogy. As many have pointed out Liam seems to get along great with the rest of the crew when they're on the Tempest but for whatever reason in the Nomad things can get a little tense among certain individuals. Cora's my favorite love interest in MEA but Liam does bring up great points about her but then again I actually think Liam and Cora get along fine they just have different approaches. You're dead on about Peebee but at least we know she comes to care for the crew in the end. Bottom line, he's a good enough character and definitely has more personality than someone like Kaiden and I think there is definitely room for improvement. Again he's my least used squadmate but only because I like the others better, but it doesn't mean I don't like him. Thanks for your incite and feedback, much appreciated.
Actually, my first thought for comparison was indeed to Ashley. But I figured using one of the characters that was more universaly adored by most would give me point more oomph.X) And yep, while I was among what felt like the rare few, I already had nothing against Cora from the get go, I can say that my affection for her only got reinforced as things went along. She really does have " a heart as soft as rose petals" under all that.^^ ;) Ya know, some people talked at the time (and still some few today, though nowhere NEAR as vehement, thank goodness) saw Kaidan as a better choice than Ashley because, if nothing else, at least he wasn't a trigger-happy "Space-Racist". But personaly, I never held what sounded like much more reasonable concerns than I've ever heard from any _genuine_ racist person against her. Plus, she grows out of it like, the second she actually _gets to know_ said aliens, especially Tali, Liara and Garrus. And Wrex, though she'll never admit it. ;) X) And I honestly always just found her more...interesting? Alive? Not sure, but she was always my pick, even though I never romanced her personally. Great friend though. :) The irony comes in when, spurred by curiosity and of course the desire to explore the entirety of Mass Effect forwards and backwards, I gave a similar second reflection of Kaidan's entire Self, and honestly, I find myself mystified to discover that, contrary to my own initial sentiment...I found myself entirely vindicated in my choice. A good man, a solid squaddy and a great friend but...just _something,_ you know? X) Still has one over on Jacob though. XD And I am ALWAYS delighted to have intelligent conversation with fellow MEers!^^ Cheers, and you're most welcome and invited to provide your own feedback.^^
I researched Saren on Mass Effect Wiki, looked at his background nd everything he did before the events of Mass Effect 1, it all fits both the evidence and the timelines before Mass Effect Andromeda, his sudden descent into madness and obsession, his rogue Spectre activities, his distaste towards humanity and the death of his brother, Desolas, Special Ops training that coincidentally, Vetra shares with her father, basic training but still, his death on the Citadel, preferably taking his own life thanks to Shepard's insistence, his brutal methods and the results everyone knew he delivered in his missions at the time, etc, it all fits, right? Add that Vetra and Sid, her sister as Turians share the Nyx surname like their mother, not father, a tradition and custom on Palaven perhaps, then the evidence confirms it, Saren is, or has to be, their dad, their mother must be the cold and distant mother in politics, at the time of his disappearance, because it's a cover to survive his betrayal and his absence, she must have told her daughters a lie as Vetra said that made it so much easier, because this is what parents tell themselves and their kids all the time, to either justify things or apparently to make the hurt and anger less, but, it's still lying, personally, I think, she should have told them, at least at the right time, when they were ready to learn, but, I guess, we'll never know really for now.
In pretty much every Bioware game I knew the team dynamic before listening to the banter on RU-vid this is the first game that surprised me completely because the banter was never really triggered for me and never came up outside the Nomad. (Even in Inquisiton with the banter bug I had a feeling about how the team felt about one another). Jeez Bioware could you have gotten one thing right here?
The more I play and the more I listen to his dialogue and speech patterns, the more I feel like Jaal is the kind of character they tried to make with Javik, only done right this time.
I'm not sure how you get that. Javik is a super grizzled veteran and colossal, colossal asshole, nihilistic to the core. If you let him marinate in his old memories, he eventually commits suicide. While Jaal is naive, hopeful, flirty, and helpful. I think both are great, memorable characters.
I guess this is an unpopular opinion but why does everyone hate Liam? He's an angry guy but he's loyal and sweet and cares about the good of the public before individuals. My male Ryder got rejected by him instantly but he was still the first to give me his loyalty mission and he's always smiling.
Because ME fans are programed by the fandom to hate the early game male human chararacters. Kaidan didn't deserve it (Until Horizon in 2) Jacob.... well, yeah, he deserved it. Vega DEFINITELY didn't deserve it. And Liam didn't deserve it. Liam also doesn't take PB's flippant shit, and because she's one of the fandom's waifu's, he's hated on because of it. It honestly infuriates me because she'll get on Liam about his loyalty mission even after dropping the squad onto a volcanic world with no plan on how to get off while going for one of her pet Remnant projects just to keep it out of the hands of her ex. Yeah, Liam kinda screwed up, but he owns his screw up. Liam also commits the 'sin' of being a former cop while not being Garrus. So he doesn't trust the 'I learned fighting on my own and not formally' SMUGGLER who is another fandom Waifu. Now, I like Vetra but her getting defensive about Liam bringing up a valid point, granted in a slightly judgey way, and then IMMEDIATELY giving Liam crap about his own fighting style, yeah, i don't blame him for not being nice. Was he out of line for judging Vetra about Sid, yeah, I say so. But he wasn't wrong in questioning if the kid had an ACTUAL choice. Most of Liam's clashes with Cora boil down to Civie vs Military thinking, but despite that and their vastly different personalities, they get along okay for the most part. And Liam is a bit too much of a baby faced kid for Drack to wanna deal with early on, but they eventually get along alright. Liam actually gets along pretty well with Jaal. The only 2 exceptions i noticed are due to 1. Jaal hasn't warmed up to the Tempest crew so he's a bit cold and suspicious. 2. He just had a physical with Lexi and that likely involved scaples and needles. He was a bit cranky and admits it.
The main failure of this game was making the dialogue runs so awful I haven't even heard a quarter of these in my play multiple play throughs. Seriously, Liam has become top 3 just from how he carries himself.
The banter system in this game is definitely better than in dragon age inquisition. I hardly get any banter in that game because of the glitch with the notifications. However in Andromeda I get banter like 2 seconds after entering the nomad
Wasn't a fan of vetra I was hoping for the opposite of Garus it would have been fun to have a more strict Turian we get to slowly let their hair down. Instead we just got worse Garrus.
TIM isn't likely her father, she mentions her parents in game and they were poor spacers who went missing in the Attican Traverse. Only connection is the same last name.
I see it differently. I actually liked Liam his character arc I found was good but poorly executed. A guy wanting to do something for the little people but lacks the patience to actually follow through. Left law enforcement and went to crisi response as they had more latitude like following the easy route. Comes to andromeda and realises that won’t work well.
It's so weird, I never take Liam with me so I never knew how he got along with everyone. When I'd talk to him on the Tempest I thought for sure he'd be the guy everyone loves, but listening to this seems like it's the exact opposite. I honestly didn't expect the amount of snapping that Jaal did towards Liam based on what I've seen in the Tempest. Crazy.
Liam was a brat through out the game and casually insults everyone for how they live their life or where they come from, so it's not hard to see why he's hated
@@killerkirby366 he still actively gets on his squadmates nerves because he mostly can't handle pressure, and because he doesn't know when to mind his own his business or be respectful to other people.
@@jillgrimwater3726 He's also useless and gets Ryder in trouble constantly. He should actually be imprisoned for his loyalty mission too or at the very least, kicked out of Pathfinders squad.
If I had to summarise: _ Cora is truly a good person, professional under fire, friendly when casually riding the Mako. Reliable and sweet _Jaal is a funny and friendly Jaavik, interesting to know him and his culture _Vetra is used to play tough to protect her sister. She hides her affection not knowing its her bigger strength. Not military minded like the other Turian is really fun to see. _Drack is your typical veteran Grandpa, just with spines around his neck. Reliable, honest and caring and funny. _Peebee is very likeable when you come to know her. Her attitude repels anyone not truly wanting to know her, its a protection. She cares about people, about the crew (and Jaal especially) but she's an asari after all, she will outlive the whole crew, her relationship with people is different. _Liam is an idiot with good intentions. He wants to be helpful but can't keep his mouth shut. He discovers people but pushing them to the edge. Can be likeable when he uses his brain and think before he talks.
id say about Liam that he has very high standarts for the team and takes the AI very seriously, which apparently noone else does and his days in law enforcement seem to have made him mistrustful and blunt, as u can follow as he grows more trusting over time
Alexander Haritonoff “more mistrustful” Liam proceeds to give security clearance codes to random angaran then almost gets the entire nexus raided by an army of space pirates... kids just a moron to put it honestly. If I had a choice I would’ve kicked him off the tempest and had him court martialed
Egenix52 I would disagree with cora and liam, cora is way too controlling crazy mom for no reason, and liam is possibly the most caring and optimistic of all, and willing to put in more work than anyone
Jaal: What is that saying, Ryder? Ryder, who has literally not been involved at all in the conversation up to this point: All talk. That made me laugh harder than it should have.
Andromeda had its flaws but it's also unfair to compare it to the trilogy. The trilogy was a space opera of elite soldiers trying to save the galaxy from an Omega level threat. Andromeda is just colonists trying to find a new home
@@phantomwraith1984 which would have worked if it was good enough for its own trilogy. Mass Effect 1 started slow too, but Andromeda felt slow the whole way through and the main story was way too short. It's not bad, true, and some VA were really cool but still, a lot of potential that was never used.
