Great ole drama ! These great movies are wonderful to take you away from reality for an hour or so , there's a lot of people that use very dangerous ways to get away from reality! Swell flick. Lots of pretty faces. Jeanette Loff, 24 when this film was released, was a real star. Sadly she died at the age of 35. If they won't come to the Paddy wagon, we'll bring the wagon to them. Right up to the penthouse.🙂
I swear the woman playing the "boss madam" @9:46 in this movie really reminds me of Margaret Dumont but there's no actor credits with her name. Guess I'm mistaken as some research I just did has come up with the actress Almeda Fowler in that role... Great movie once again PizzaFlix! Thank You!!

I can tell they cut the “damn” from the officer when he was talking about avoiding the back alley reporters, but it looks like there might have but some more innocent, romantic scenes cut, due to the montage & her admitting she'd love to live in “the rose-covered, stucco- covered” cottage. A reference to something clearly gone. I wonder if this was edited later for just the exploitation stuff, as was done to Lash Of The Penitentes - except in that case the sex & violence was cut out to create an Anti-Catholic exploitation film.
There are 7 minutes missing from the run time, PG version. Several cuts - obviously the stripping and naked dunking in rose water, what else? Sex and profanity.

I do prefer precode movies and usually rate them high but this is different because it was made as a moralistic movie warning of the evils of bad deeds instead of just telling a flowing story like the rest. I rate it a six as the acting was very stilted. Still good to watch because of the different era as it was a very esthetic one.
Not a great movie, but enjoyable. I always like seeing Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. in any role. Oh, I did like the idea of miss manning as a n undercover cop.
Those cops in those days were really tough! What an era when booze was illegal and sex was considered dirty but of course violence was considered 'American.'
I'm enjoying these discoveries. While some are quite interesting, not all of these are good movies. The acting leaves something to be desired, especially in this one, given the "script" they had to work with. Other "bad" scripts were overcome with skilled actors. I wonder if Warners' could have done with this script.

Perky tune, tacky crew (for the most part) and the Big D is just beginning. The lack of interactive media is starkly evident, phones and cars stand alone (no radios in play here- they had been in production for only a few years) amidst Deco furniture (being somewhat more interesting than today's stuff). Aviation was still truly at a very early stage.
