Pasadena, CA
1/2/17
Every year for over a century, the City of Pasadena has a New Years Parade called “The Rose Parade”. After the Rose Parade, the attendees leave behind a massive amount of trash. If anyone has ever wondered how the Rose Parade is cleaned up, here is the method used. Pasadena Public Works arrives to the parade route around 11 pm after the Parade with several dozen crew members, trucks and tools. There are Leaf Blowers, Rakes, Water Trucks, Street Sweepers, Dump Trucks and Backhoes.
In previous years Pasadena had a more interesting method where they would attach a carry can or commercial dumpster to all the cities Front Loader Garbage Trucks. The backhoes would empty all the trash into the dumpster and the Front Loaders would empty the trash into the hopper. The Street Sweepers would also fill up so they would dump their load into the street and a Backhoe would pick up the trash and empty it into the Front Loader. According to one of the Dump Truck Drivers, now the Dump Trucks and Street Sweepers go the city yard to unload all the trash.
Thank you to the hard working Pasadena Public Works crew and Happy New Year to Everyone!
