In this video, I start the electro-mechanical design of the amplifier. The Aleph 3 is a 30W Class A amplifier sold approximately 25 years ago (1997). Modified the current source to achieve higher power.
Purchased Items:
Aleph 3 clone: eBay for approximately $45 for the pair.
Power Supply: XP Power LCS150US24 at Digikey for $24.
Small heatsink at Amazon for $20.
Large heatsink at Digikey for $28.
Questions? Let me know.

Thank you for a a great video, thinking of building a Pass design myself, for now just trying to get ideas from smarter folks! Regarding the fan, you could try looking for a fatter PC cooling fan, something around 25mm thick, specifically designed for higher static pressure. A company called Noctua has some great options. Using two fans for a push-pull design could also be good. Perhaps also leaving a gap between the heatsinks and sealing the gap with aluminum tape to create a "duct" could also help not overload the fan and keep the air moving, but in this case I'm not sure if that flow would be enough to disturb the boundary layer enough. Best of luck! I love the hidden heatsink idea and am curious how it will turn out!

Your welcome. Your ideas are good and have been looking adding a space between the heatsinks. Will also look at other fans that can deal with higher pressure. I'll take a look at Noctura. Thanks.

Have not heard or read about differences between the two. I am still working through some ideas for the next video. Hopefully done in another couple of weeks. Thanks for watching :)

Thanks for the video Dan, very informative. Question, how do you plan to power both channels with the two SMPS units, i assume you will be pairing them up to create the +24/GND/-24 then power each channel in parrellel?

Correct. Since each power supply's output is isolated, they can be connected in series to form +/-24V. These units have enough capability to power both channels in parallel.

Do you think it's cheaper just to buy an assembled amp with these modules?

Might be cheaper to buy an assembled unit. Have you found an assembled amp with these modules? I would be interested in looking at it. Do you have a link?
