Agreed! I only went off on a pax 1x because she went 1min around the corner and was hiding the cig in her hand. It was a surged ride on the way home, so I took her but I went off. I didn't get an F if I got deactivated. She misunderstood my rage by thinking I was alluding to her hygiene when I told her it makes the car smell. I was like, "Your literally going 1min up the f*cking street - you couldn't wait? You couldn't wait for the driver to drop you off?" Her BF was trying to change the subject to calm me, but I wasn't letting him. Because it was a short drive, it wasn't long before she was out of the car
Don’t talks just leave and cancel a few days ago , i was in pic up spot , she was there smoking, she ignored me until she finishing her cigarette, I didn’t say anything, just drove and cancelled, I saw her in mirror yelling and screaming I laughed so much.
Same, though these two nitwits were smoking behind the building. When they got in, I circled around to another street and lied that I needed gas. I told them to exit, and few streets over stopped to fumigate the car. Grateful that my allergies didn't kick in, I got them out in time

I'm a smoker of cigarettes so I'll let people smoke in my car as long as they are sober and aware. Uber and lyft won't be telling me what I can and can't do in my car!!!! Now this video above is ridiculous. No one has ever stood outside my car to finish smoking. They always throw it down or put it out. I have issues with riders that I miss off slamming my doors which it did cause my passenger windows to come off track due to slamming the back door so hard. Uber didn't make them fix it either. Same! I now cancel or kick ppl out who come in reeking of smoke. I'm also allergic to it, too. My left side of my face tightens and then only the left eye starts to produce tears. It's a strange allergic reaction. I used to send messages but your average person isn't reading texts from Uber or Lyft, so now they get kicked out. Thank God I started my new full time job two weeks ago; I'm out of training now, so I'll be looking for a part time evening/weekend job to help get debt down. Once most or all of my debt is gone, I will quit the nighttime job and get a new daytime job that pays better (within 1yr) - - and my daytime job is remote - - I'll only do Uber during rain, snow and when the weather gets cold, I notice higher demand and higher fares in my market. Ppl want to walk less because of how cold it is, so we shall see
It’s like credit, if the rider’s rating is low you won’t get me as a driver! If you have food or drinks you won’t be getting in my truck. If you try to scam me by canceling the ride while we are driving you must exit the vehicle immediately or I’m calling 911. I had to make 2 ppl get out in the rain 🌧️ after canceling during the trip.
Surprised that this nonsense still happens. I've only been cancelled on 1x in the 8yrs I've been doing Uber. Kicked her out, told her that she cancelled so other rides are now coming in, that's how I knew back then she cancelled. After whining for a few mins, she left, but the other rider I had cancelled due to inactivity
Here is how to handle it; you see the rider smoking, don't stop, cancel and drive away. That's it! No words are necessary. Y'all can tell a lot about a rider just by looking at them, and you can avoid a lot of issues by listening to your gut feeling. However, I would have already known by studying my city that these are sketch apartments and I would have never accepted the trip. If I didn't know I would use google maps street view before I even turned a wheel and canceled the ride based on the aesthetic of the neighborhood. I know that there likely terrible riders who will never tip coming out of that area and therefore I am not going to put up with them for $3. My point is to use all of the tools you have at your deposal to avoid being in that situation to begin with. Be smart and be crafty. You are an Independent Contractor and you can chose where you go and who you pick up. Learn your city and know the problem areas well enough to decline the trip with a cursory glance at the offer!
Accepted a ride. Pulled up. Three girls with a 2 month old infant in one of the girls arms. Asked her as they are entering my car, "where is the car seat for the infant?" Her response..." Well, the other Uber driver let me... blah blah... I said Florida law requires a car seat. Sorry...she got angry... I said, ma'am, i am recording. please exit the vehicle now. You know better and i dont care about what the other driver did, but i follow the law and thats your child, not mine...i reported her, was compensated and thats that. Dont put up with bs! ❤

Problem is you don't know if they're a new rider or if they got so low in their rating that they started the account brand new again. I've had horrible people with a 5.0.
I got a $900 check from Uber's class action awhile ago, too, so it might take years but you can definitely put through a class action because if there's video proof that the rider broke the terms of service, then the driver should be allowed to file a lawsuit against the rider. The thing is, I would have called the police and then the detectives would have investigated, found the perp and action can take place - - leave Uber out of it
People get in my car smelling like weed, cigarettes, perfume, axe body spray, 💩, sex, and every smell out there. I hate when people are smoking when I put up but people smoke and smell but that’s life. Can you cancel? Yes, should they kick your car ? No, but seriously if you can’t stand smells this probably isn’t the job for you.

Now that is a very true and realistic take on things! The voice of reason and logic....love it. Drivers can always slap a mask on, raise the fan speed, open the windows, etc. when the situation calls for it.
thats debatable. some people have low ratings because of petty drivers. as a driver i had a 5.0 rating as a passenger for a decade, and until last year i ended up somehow at 4.8. ive also see lots of people over the last year to two years with lower ratings than ever. ive picked up many 4.6-4.7 and they were perfectly fine. however, i do evaluate based on pickup spot, time of day, destination, tourist or local (vegas its easy to know that one). but when i see anything below 4.6 i often do pass, especially at certain pickup spots, destinations, and or time of day. but ive also had combative passengers with a 5.0 rating. so theres that too.
Though I agree that some passengers have lower ratings due to petty drivers, none of them will be below a 4.90. Uber has a rating filter so that you don't even see the ones below that.
@@amamdawhatever i have no such filter on my account. other drivers in my own market have it, but i dont. ive had 4.9s be a total scumbag..so ratings are meaningless to a degree.

Had a guy kick my car a few times, 'his buddy was in front of my car so couldn't drive off right away' so I took my car to the body shop and got an estimate Uber pay me $250.
Yes, she is going to label him a racist. It happened to me just 4days ago. I got a ride request, it was uber. They requested uberx and i got there, they were 5 riders. i told them to request uber XL and not uber X. few hours later, i got a message from uber that a passenger report me for making a racist comment. I was very mad because i cannot do anything..
You can do something. Tell them that the rider retaliated because they had too many people in their group, and tell Uber that you have a Dashcam to prove that you weren't racist. I did that once. The guy couldn't verbally confirm that where he was going in English, so I told him he needs to call his boss to translate. He didn't understand and on his own he decided to leave. I got a report that I was racist - I went to Uber chat to offer the video of the dashcam, I told them I knew who it was. I said to Uber that it was under the account for Kevin. They told me to upload it and then changed their mind and said, "We believe you, we're just letting you know its a report, nothing to worry about." So, just tell them you have Dashcam footage." If you don't have a dashcam, get one, but Uber is most likely not going to accept it anyways.
This actually happened to me last week while driving Lyft. A rider showed up to the ride covered in paint, which he claimed was dry. After being refused a ride, he kicked the passenger side door. I contacted Lyft who told me that this behavior is not tolerated. I had to spend an hour or so in chat but they assured me that they would take appropriate action. I take that to mean that he was banned.
All it means is the next driver will get them. They can also come into the app with a different name or as someone's guest. I had someone I gave a 1 star who got into my car as a guest just to give me a 1 star again, just as retaliation.
Always park in away that you can escape, arrive, observe and make a decision, no conversation needed, how was the trip ? $3 ? $5 ? There is million of them all day long ! Was it $200 ? Probably you had to drive 300 miles either way not worth it, I understand the concept of dashcam but at this point it was his Tesla’s cam, as far as Uber goes they don’t care they never care even if the pax get arrested they will make sure pax get a ride after serving jail time. About false report that’s very true happened to me two three times.
This guy has a cam on the sides of his vehicle? Wow! Never seen anyone have that! I suppose it's a Tesla thing? BTW, I have three cams! One facing forward, one facing in the rear on my trunk, and one facing inward into the cabin! But after seeing this video, I may need to get two more for the sides! I have 2 no smoking signs in my back windows but it does piss me off when I pull up and people feel like they have to get that last minute vape in before they get in the car. But so far so go the none smoking signs have been very helpful. Now I've had people ask can they smoke in my car and I would tell them no because I'm allergic to smoke and I really am.

Cigarette smoke is disgusting, biu vape is different for me. I don't care if people smell like peach candy. I have a private client who smokes cigars and the smell does not linger in my car, so that is fine too. In fact when combined with the smell of my leather cleaner, my car smells kinda swanky after I give him a ride.
Property damage is called larceny. Trying to salvage a ride that has gone wrong from the first moment you arrive will be nothing but an ongoing hate. You’ll get a one star rating. You’ll get a fraudulent report filed by theR ider. You have to live with the incident for a long time, even if you don’t get deactivated .
If you’re getting a Tesla on a UberX save & wait, that’s messed up. Drive away next time & cancel for safety reasons. She literally wanted to smoke a cig in a Tesla on an X & as soon as she said that I’d drive off.
I keep Fabreeze spray with me and spray usually after every rider and especially smokers. I send all Uber drivers a text message that I am only working in my city limits and tell them to cancel the ride if they are traveling 3 miles outside of it. I've many cancell and I've had some get pissed off and them I tell them and show them the message i sent that I won't accept the ride, it doesn't pay, I'm not working for free, and its not my fault. I tell them to complain to Uber because I'm not taking some bullshit long distance ride that doesn't pay, especially for the return trip. 2 miles or less to accept a ride...
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. Her behavior from the first moment spelled trouble as clearly as if it was written on her forehead. Was the situation for this driver going to improve from here had he let her in the car? If he had already made the decision in his head to leave, he should have left immediately with no emotion or fanfare. By hanging around unfamiliar areas with people who have already shown you they are determined to f@ck with you, you are putting yourself at a huge risk. Imagine her angry boyfriend overhearing the commotion outside and he comes out of the house looking to defend the honor of his girl. Maybe he’s armed. Given the environment we are currently working in, drivers need to be threat assessment experts. When someone like this shows you who they are in the first five seconds, believe them the first time. That may be the only warning you get. Talk to any detective or patrol officer. The vast majority of victims of violent crime will tell them that something didn’t seem right about the people or the environment immediately prior to the attack. Ignore that little voice at your own peril.
Had this happen to me went to pick up a lady unfortunately the map directed me to a path where it forced her to cross the street I have no idea who my passenger is at this point. It is a crowded street of people very little cars she walks up to my car says you didn’t wanna cross the street? Screaming at me I let her know her attitude. I will have to cancel the trip. She spit in my face blind it back across the street and started screaming at me that I’m a racist. I had to call the police wait for the police, she by then got another ride and was gone, fled the scene did nothing to her or her account took the video footage, but never followed up and did anything and then she reported me to Uber and said that I said racist things to her. Uber is a terrible terrible terrible company does not protect its drivers does not care about its drivers safety. They should not be able to run in any state. We need a better and I also wanted to add the Solo app sucks.
That why i make sure that am recording with every passenger. I have a Dashcam that records the front of the Car, and a Cam that records inside the car. I also have Record My Ride Feature turn on through the Uber App which records both Audio and Video. That Video records just me and me only so that why a customer can't lie to Uber saying that i assaulted them. The Record My Ride through Uber automatically records as soon as i Arrive to customer place and ends 20 Seconds after I Drop off.
I would have just moved on and cancel, sorry you missed out on that $4 trip. Uber will not care and when you call and talk to that customer. service representative in India they will give you that scripted response if they speak english.

Once I had a black dude on a bicycle (gently) bump on my rear bumper with his bike front wheel. as I was stopped for pickup on a bike lane on Santa Monica Blvd. In that specific area there really isn’t any other option. As I started to very slowly back up on him he punched down the hood of my trunk. To this day it still have a small dent he made with his fist. As I proceeded to call the cops he came up to my window threatening me and saying he was an ex cop… More like another thug thinking they own and rule the streets. He quickly drove away so I didn’t insist with my call Stuff like that might happen every single day when you’re out there doing 8 to 10 hours in Los Angeles. But since Uber and Lyft stopped paying living wages I only work a couple rides here and there and Friday and Saturday evenings

I don’t believe this is real. The dash cam is not going to be able to capture the side of the car like that. It’s footage being played on a computer not from a cam like the guy. I have real footage of myself driving away from a guy that wanted to get in my car who had a bottle of alcohol and a cigar.
