Passengers aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit spent the night in a military barracks in eastern Canada after the plane was forced to land because of a mechanical issue.

How is this news? You flew, safely landed after "mechanical issues", were put up for the night and the next day got to your destination. So you were a little inconvenienced, big deal.

Why is this news? I've been through flight delays several times. It's not the end of the world. I'm sure some passengers were grateful that the plane was able to land safely. A safe landing in a remote Canadian airport is preferable over a nosedive into the North Atlantic.

Well I mean they only interviewed a couple passengers, I'd imagine most of them were quite grateful to the base/military/town...probably none too happy with the airline though lol.

The saddest part about this story is the actual military members across this country who are constantly told that no quarters are available. You should do a story on how many soldiers are homeless. I’m sure you’ll be surprised.

Super glad no one made the call to fly the plane recklessly. Perhaps the more odd part is why didn't the rescue plane come with crew that were able to fly.

fun fact - the Jodie Foster film Flightplan has a part where the plane is forced to land in CFB Goose Bay. however the airport seen on film was no where near Labrador and was instead one in Germany (i wondered why it didnt look familiar when i saw the movie). Also unlike in the film, the FBI has no agents in the area, and would have no jurisdiction either (would be the RCMP or Base MPs, because it's Canada, after all).

The passengers were given military rations then asked to get the bucket and mops out for a floor scrubbing . Then watched movie about Diefenbaker . 😂 🇨🇦🇺🇸✨✈️

What’s scary if it’s a same scenario where that missing MALAYSIAN Airway’s flight that just disappeared into thin air and remained missing after all these years. You know a conspiracy theory where they intended to play out the same scenario but changed their mind at the last minute to the advantage of the innocent intended victims, who knows? Anything is possible in these strange times we live in.
