The exams are getting tougher everyday, i can't miss this opportunity I've heard a lot about his good works in the life of certified projects Managers across the states
I'm currently going through the Joseph Philips course, finding it effective at 1.5 speed. I skip note-taking, instead downloading transcripts into Word. I search and highlight instances where he emphasizes, "You better know this for the exam!"
I was really close to spending a lot of money on resources for CAPM Prep until I found this video. I followed your study plan instead. Paid $13 for the Joseph Phillips Course (took 4 weeks) and watched the Ricardo video a couple of times before the exam. Ended up passing above target in almost exam domain. Thank you so much for making this video, super helpful!
Amazing! Thank you! I work in mortgage currently & had to take the NMLS exam several months ago, passed first time, which was also 3 hrs & I hear a lot of commonalities here. Highly recommend to take multiple practice exams for endurance, like Bec said, also there was an audio I listened to consistently, so something I'll do here is make an audio for myself going over the terms & listening to that throughout the day. It was amazing to be able to make dinner, go for a walk, & just go about your day while passively letting things set in. I'd also made an entire doc & added comments etc. Literally all the tips she's giving I got for my NMLS exam, which many fail the first time, Bec speaks facts!
Thank you very much for this video. I have bought Joseph Phillips course and have already started it (other YT videos also recommended this course). I hope that I can get my certificate in a month or two following your guidance. I admit though that I have a leg up since I previously had my PMP in 2005-2008 timeframe. For those of you that don't know, if you do get your CAPM it is an advantage in getting your PMP as "Earning your CAPM certification means automatically meeting the 35 hours of project management education and training required to sit for the PMP exam."
Really nice video and also very good tips on how to evaluate and respond to the exam questions. I'm looking forward to take my CAPM exam soon. Keep up the great work 👍
First and foremost, thank you so much for this video. Also, congratulations on passing. I am in a situation where I have been working as a PM for about a year. I am interviewing for a new job a few days from now. During the phone interview they had mentioned that they would like to pay for my CAPM certification. This is good in a way but it also puts pressure on me because if I fail I would imagine it would look really bad. I usually score really high on exams where I have unlimited time but I am usually the last one to finish. I am a very slow test taker. It seems like if the test is timed my mind scrambles and I think about that throughout the exam rather than the content. My plan is to study tirelessly so everything is in my head thoroughly to give e more confidence when I actually take it. I haven't even gotten a job offer yet and I am stressing which indicates how my mind works. I really want this job and I like that they are willing to pay for my certification which I know will be beneficial to me. Are there any prerequisites to taking the exam? If you had opted to take the test in person how far away would you have to have traveled? Thanks for this advice. I appreciate the time it took to do this and your knowledge and encouragement.
The CAPM has no prerequisites except I think you need a high school diploma or GED, so it's great for beginners. I don't think failing would look too bad - lots of companies sponsor much more difficult exams. Although the company might not pay for a second attempt, it really depends where you work
I am glad to find this video!!! Thanks for all those amazing tips…. Save not only money, but most important it saves time! Definitely the official PMI CAPM prep online course do not worth 350 dollars ! Maybe not even 10 dollars 😢
Probably the most genuine video on CAPM, I have seen so far. Quite motivating and process oriented. Would it be possible for you to share some links on the resources for CAPM based on 7th edition for 2024?
Great video- thorough but not overly detailed. It provided a great outline of what to expect and how to prepare. Question: Is this certification appropriate for mid-career types looking to change direction? Or is it for college grads / younger workers. Seems like it has broad application within various industries (healthcare, tech, construction, insurance etc). Thank you for taking the time to break it down for the rest of us and congrats on your success.
I'm not an expert, but I think it's more for younger/early career people. But if you're trying to show interest in project management it could still help
Thank you for the great video, the advice helps!! May I ask, on the CAPM exam, are there any scenario questions or is it mainly understanding the concepts and terminology?
thanks for your video, you are 100% correct. this course is not so intutive and confusing. Mostly seems like bunch of terminology thrown with every concept without any explaination. Can you please share your notes?
Thank you so much for the great vid! Can you please indicate if you were given a notepad and calculator either in application form or physical form for the online exam. Also, are you able to go back on questions once answered? How much would you suggest spending on each question, a minute or two tops?
I don't remember if you get a notepad or calculator - there might be a simple online calculator. You can go back to questions once answered though, I think the test is design so you get 2-3 minutes per question.
First of all, thanks a lot for the video. you really simplified the process of taking the CAPM and motivated me to go for it. Secondly, does the same technique work since they updated to the 7th edition PMBOK and the Joseph Phillips course is based around the 6th edition?
I'm honestly not sure when it comes to the 7th edition PMBOK. I would definitely take a prep course tailored to that one since there were pretty big changes
Passing the CAPM test is when you study hard, if you can’t study or you don't have time for your studies l'd advise you get yourself a help like Mr Willard
Thanks for the video, do you think it is possible to complete the Google Project Management certificate course offered by Couresera and then take the CAPM exam straight after and have a good chance at passing?
Hi Will the Joseph Phillips Udemy course still up to date since now there is a seventh edition of the PMBOK and some exams have had changes. If it is not up to date can you recommend a course to me for the 7th edition for CAPM?
thank you for this video, i was so confused on how to prep for the exam. i'm planning on taking the exam on jan 2023 but they're actually changing the exam and it's not based on the PMBOK Guide - Sixth Edition anymore! so do u still think that i should take the same course u did? or should i search more
It's important to take a course for the current exam, so the course I took may no longer be the best option. I'd do some research and see if you can find what other people have said about the new exam
Thank you for the video and your experience, it is very useful. I have a question regarding joseph phillips course on udemy as it says it does cost 100 dollars not 10. Is there any promo codes you used? Thank you
Thanks for your video! I'm currently about 50% of the way thru Joseph's Udemy course. I'm honestly having a hard to connecting/learning some of the content. Do you have any other tips/resources?
Honestly my best tip is to power through and take thorough notes to review later. It's not the kind of material you really "connect" with, unfortunately
@@BeconFire Great video and information! I too found Joseph’s Udemy course and joined it a couple days ago. I’m just doing a little research before I get everything set up to start studying. I found that Alvinthepm had some good info as well. Thank you.
Amazing video, Bec. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm taking my CAPM in 6 days. I'm having a hard time understanding whether I've done enough or not. Particularly, what do you mean when you say "they will ask not the basics but the 2nd level questions?" Could you provide an example? Thank you again
Glad it was helpful! By 2nd level questions, I mean you won't be asked what an acronym stands for, but will be asked more about the steps of processes or what will/won't be included in part of a project
@@BeconFire thank you so much for replying! Makes sense. I’m doing the exams from the Udemy course now and I really hope the exam isn’t like this ahah I don’t think I can get all these ITTOs in my head. I found the quizzes with examples much better.
@Bec On Fire Hi Bec. Does 23hrs course of udemy by Philips will satisfy 23hrs of Pdu's right ? Is it possible to use same course code Me and my friend ??? Or we need to purchase seperate udemy courses of Philips
thank you so much for the video, i'm new arrival to the US, have "no experiance" in project manegments, do you think i can pass the exam depending on the steps you recommended in the video? i want to prepare myself to work in this field after getting the certificate
CAPM is for beginners in project management, so I think you can pass. The exam is updating in January 2023 though, so make sure you take a course geared towards the new exam
I don't know how much it changed for the 7th edition but I think so. Joseph Philips course should get updated and I believe Ricardo Vargas updates his videos as well
Do I need to make the exam fee payment right after submitting my capm exam application or do I need to wait to receive approval of my application and then do the payment ? Plz clarify
Definitely write the terms down, especially if the meaning isn't obvious - a lot of questions rely on knowing the vocabulary and terminology of the PMI
The Udemy course she recommends by Joseph Phillips, was updated to reflect the PMI CAPM exam changes in 2023. Everything she says in this video is still very much valid. Fantastic advice.
An eligibility criterion to take the CAPM exam is to have at least 23 contact hours of project management education completed before the exam (according to the PMI website). Do we not need to submit proof of that completion to take the exam? Does the Udemy course fulfill the requirement?
I plan to take the PMP test in a few months. They are very different - CAPM is for beginners and easier. PMP is much more difficult but also more respected
@@BeconFire if you pass the PMP then you have CAPM and PMP. Do you plan to maintain and renew both of them? After passing the CAPM did you got a project manager job? Please advice for me on which to take, CAPM or PMP?
what about the compulsory "Project Management Basics - An Official PMI Online Course" ? because PMI mandates "Have at least 23 contact hours of project management education completed before the exam (PMI’s online Project Management Basics course can help fulfill this requirement)"
You passed CAPM exam and still do not know what PMBok stands for? This is what is wrong with certifications. Just because you get a certification, doesn't mean you know your shit! Paper certifications aren't a sign that you will be successful at your job.
