I have been interested in this program for a while but I’m kind of Scared lol I’m 26 years old never been to college, dropped out of high school at 16 but got my high school diploma last year & went & got my cna license in the same year. I’m also a single mother to an autistic 4 year old boy. Working full time. But I’m really interested so I went & signed up for college and I’m going to be taking the Prerequisites which is just BIO (Basic Anatomy & Physiology) ENG (Writing and Inquiry) MATH (Algebra/Trigonometry) & PHY (Conceptual Physics) my GPA needs to be 2.5 or higher. I’m extremely nervous. But hoping for the best. Your videos have helped me a lot thank you 🙏🏼

And offers a associates degree! Is that okay and good school choice for me? It’s the closet ultrasound school near me.

from personal experience, my school is exactly that. I 100% regret it. its made things so hard for me. more money out my pocket and a lot of time (years longer than a CAHEEP wouldve been). I took my ARRT (400 questions, 7hr exam, can only take it 3x in 3 yrs) twice I am finally in the process of scheduling my obgyn. and i still have no job.... do a lot of research before signing with a school. i wish i knew more when i started

Hello i’m 16 and I want to be come a Sonographer and I have many questions about what every step to becoming a Sonographer are. What certifications I need, what tests i will need to take in the future, how so you become a specialized Sonographer, and how to take useful notes

i think you just need to take the prerequisites for a sonography program, then apply!! :) you need to specialize in something like ob/gyn or vascular. i’m taking prereqs for dms!
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 4 года назад
Hi Luisa. First you'll need to take prereqs for which ever program you'd like. After completing the program there are many registries you can take depending on your program such as abdomen, obgyn, echo, vascular, breast etc. These are all separate exams and you can take as many as you would like. Prior to taking any of these specialties, everyone has to take the physics registry which is the SPI. After your registries you are all set to start your career in sonography.

Does the board exam consists of math questions? Also.. have you had to use math during your sonography work? I know you have to do it as a pre req and physics but what about in real life? Other than measuring fetal weight and length
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 4 года назад
For physics we do very basic math like addition, subtraction/division. Definitely wouldn't worry about the math component. For work there is no Math involved for the most part because the machines have packages built in that calculates for us.

That's Awesome hope you enjoy your journey ! Unfortunately I graduated during the pandemic so a lot of us could not find jobs for a good while. But the jobs opened back up later in the year and we were able to find mainly per diem positions (which is as needed) but you get a higher pay rate. Starting out as a new grad those are the jobs you will most likely get depending on where you live. Florida is saturated so jobs are harder but in other places you'll find a full/part time job quicker!

Hey Morgan, Congrats! How long they give you take the test? Did you take it online or in person?:)
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 3 года назад
Hi Maria, there is a 5 year rule between taking the SPI (physics exam) and any specialty exam (abdomen, ob/gyn, vascular, echo etc) however after taking the first specialty there is no time limit to take additional exams. so just make sure to take the SPI and any specialty exam within 5 years of each other. The SPI is an exam everyone has to take as the prerequisite for all specialty exams.

Hi, did you have to take trig for a pre-req? Or at least before you took physics?
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 3 года назад
Hi. No I didn't take trig before physics but I had college algebra and calculus taken at the time. I don't think those are requirements for physics though. It's probably precalculus or college algebra. Each school varies with their prereqs though so definitely go on your school website to see which math you need before physics 1 so you don't end up taking courses you don't need.
@Jaclyn521
@Jaclyn521 3 года назад
What is the name of the Edelman book you are referring to? I’m only seeing the physics book
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 3 года назад
Its called "ESP" and they are available for all the specialties so you can search "ESP abdomen review" for example. However, I don't see the books available for purchase anymore - only inflated prices because the company does courses/seminars- which is where some people get the review...I borrowed from a classmate. I'll have to make an updated video since it's off the market. You can still try and look around online though.. or ask around in your program because maybe one of the students from the year ahead of you has a copy. Another book I used was the ultrasound review by Steven Penny - it's a red book and it helped. My classmates also used the Davies study review books and those are good popular ones too. Goodluck with your studying.

Hey I’m from San Diego Cali. Looking to get into ultrasound. What’s classes I have to take and what school you recommend
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 3 года назад
There are so many schools to choose from. I am in Florida so I'm not familiar with schools in other locations. When I was applying I researched my area and looked at reviews as well as each schools website to decide the best program for me. The classes to take also vary by school so during your search you can make a list of the courses each program requires and compare them. They are all pretty similar though.
@alexamoccia8279

Are you ARRT certified or ARDMS? I am assuming ARDMS.. my school is offering ARRT certified so I am not sure if I should stay with this school I live in NYC, and I want to make sure when I complete the program hiring for ARRT will be just as wanted.
@morganashley3420
@morganashley3420 3 года назад
I am ARDMS. ARRT is also recognized although ARDMS seems to be the more popular choice. Many job descriptions have ARRT or ARDMS in the job description though so I don't think that should be an issue when finding a job. To be on the safe side/ squash any doubt, I would look at job descriptions in your area to see what they require when hiring. In my area, I saw either or so it's not an issue. But that's something you could do if you're having doubts. Also if you plan on doing cardiac maybe in the future, I don't see a certification through ARRT specializing in cardiac, so that's something else to consider.

Alasha __ there is an exam for each specialty . Abdomen, OBGYN, vascular, breast , echo etc. there are a few of them so it just depends on what you want to specialize in. But in the hospitals they require that you have vascular (RVT) and abdomen at least. Some even add echo since the departments could be combined.
