Passion fruit is quite common fruit in Indonesia as it is tropical fruit. Long time ago when my friend saw passion fruit juice on the restaurant menu, she would say " This restaurant's owner is from North Sumatra ! "
As she said, passion fruit syrup is a common drink that you can find from North Sumatra. The fruit is more commonly found there. This kind of home-made syrup is considered delicacy. the fruit has strong fragrant and sour to slightly sweet taste.
Since then I grew slowly to love drinking passion fruit juice. Some stores sold not so original passion fruit syrup. Some of them were too sweet. Some of them were using artificial sweeteners. So whenever I was craving, I bought the passion fruits and made my own. Easy !!
If you can get passion fruits, why do not try to make your own syrup that can be stored long time in the fridge?
