Thank you Michelle, this book make cry, tears of joy and happiness so much about your mother and the relation and memories of yours. Wich brought my mother memories l think I must do a book that will bring bits of her because the pain of not having her anymore is there maybe I could reconnect and reconcile with her. Thank you. And our mothers will be here within us not matter neither the distance nor the time. Always, always present.
Absolutely stunning work of heart! I love how you did the photos as tape transfers; that really adds to the feeling of nostalgia. You add rusty bits when you dye paper? I'll have to try that your paper colours are gorgeous! Your Mom would be so touched to see this loving tribute to her; I lost mine in 2005 and not a day goes by that I don't think of her in some way. We were lucky, both you and I. ❤
Hi Michelle, I found a photo of your California 2010 journal on Pinterest, then found your blog. I absolutely loved that journal, then I said to myself "I wonder if she's on youtube" hehe, and here I am....Your Passport journal is amazing, I hope you share more of your wonderful work. TFS... Lori :)
Lori (Just A Girl From The Bay) Hi there... so as you can tell, I'm not on RU-vid often as i just saw this. 😁 Thank you so much for your very kind words.
What a loving tribute! It's brought tears to my eyes. My mom is still living, I am happy to say. She made most of her own clothes and some of ours, just like your mom. I'm thinking of taking Orly's class online so searched around for examples and found your book.
Thank you so much, Kana! Oh I wish you could too! To hear the crinkly papers and to feel the grit, fabric, paint, etc., on the pages is a huge part of this journal's experience. :-)
What an amazing journal and tribute to your Mother. I imagine her watching over your shoulder as you created all the layers to this loving creation. Thank you for sharing such a personal project.
Thank you so much, Sandy. Ohhh, you're so sweet and I truly appreciate your empathy. It's a very special journal to me and represents all the good my mom put out in the world. XO
Michelle, This journal is amazing and such a beautiful tribute to your mom. Thank you for sharing with us. I love how many papers you got into the passport. And the top view is incredible!
Thank you so much, Debbie. This little journal is a special treasure and one that I hold very dear. And seriously! I am amazed how many papers it held! I think if I was going to journal on the pages I would not have added so many pages but from the beginning, I knew this would be just a visual diary. No writing to speak of on the pages other than names of family members and tiny slips of papers with words. :-)
I've been looking for "the right book" regarding documenting a time I lived in Switzerland many years ago. So thank you for giving me this great idea of using my expired passport from that period. Nancy
Thank you so much, Patti. It's a pretty special journal and I was flattered that enough friends asked to see the inside that I was motivated to film the flip-through. I'm humbled that you found it inspiring. Thank you. :-)
How beautiful!!!!! It was made with so much thought and love, you can feel that radiating out from it. Great work! Wonderful keepsake. BTW, my Mom also sewed all of our clothes and loved ice tea! She always made a gallon in an old milk jug, andi cannot remember a time when it wasnt there!!!! Funny the things we remember about our moms! Hugs, Julie
Wow! So so so beautiful! Thank you for sharing, I loved this memorial journal for your mother, it brought me so much inspiration and joy to watch. Can not wait until your next video :) blessings from Sweden
Jen, thank you so much. The word idea was a very fun exercise. I didn't tell anyone about it because I didn't want them to overthink their word. Having the word and who came up with it makes this a very special and unique journal for me. The majority of my journals are travel souvenirs. :-)
Thank you so much and I'm so glad you found it inspiring! That's the fun part about sharing. :-) Good luck with your passport journal! The passport size is my favorite to work with.
This is an amazing journal, so beautiful! I'm going to be making a memorial journal for my mother soon and this gave me some great ideas of things to include. Where in the world did you find an old Greek passport though?
Thank you so much, Elise. I'm so happy to hear you gathered some ideas from this. I found the old passport on Ebay. They're usually pretty expensive but every once in awhile, there's a bargain to be found. :-)
