Passport Problem | Testing out fake passport | Tricking passport scanner 

I have worked as a security guard checking photo IDs at the gate of a utility company. The problem is that the ID photo, or a passport photo, was not taken today. It is usually several years old. People gain or lose weight. People dye or stop dyeing their hair. Men shave their heads or stop shaving. Men grow beards or shave beards. Men go bald. If the photo looked pretty much OK, I would let them in. The only other choice would be lock out half the workers.

Who else wants to see if they can find their doppelgänger in that system

US officers are taught to look for features for example: relative location of ears, eyes and nose. The problem is how much time is allowed.

It looks like they make passports at Dunder-Mifflin.

I'm not an expert, but how about thode who had surgery especially in Asain countries? Would their identities be seen as fake?

I was bald in my passport photo but grew my hair. That always confuse immigration officers.

Even I could tell the 2 ladys faces are so different, particularly the nose.

It happened to me. I was travelling with another person from Tel Aviv (!) After a check, we swap passports by mistake. I did pass controls with his passport, and he passed controls with my passport. We was not aware about the mistake so our body language was ok and passports was genuine, however, not our passports. We are both same kind of face, but very different weight and height. Funny

The distance between the face and the camera lens is hugely important. And it wasn't even mentioned. So many photos today are selfies, which seemingly distort features because they are taken so close to the face.

She had to look different in the passport photo. She was supposed to get enhanced, like she could have used fillers to make her nose look more the same. She had to look different from her real photos and get enhanced to look like the other lady. At the airport she had to look enhanced with fillers and makeup. The trick lacks determination. She didn't try to look different.

Aus is likely following US closely with the AI immigration procedures. Customs takes your photo and the AI matches it itself. Facial recognition is also being used on outbound US flights in the boarding areas.

People need to keep in mind that identity theft is not a joke. Millions of people suffer from it every year

Here in California you need what is known as a "Real ID" star on your Driver's License which requires proof of citizenship. I had a "Passport Card" used to go to Canada or Mexico. The DMV's scanner rejected it as not a valid document. Had to go home and get my regular passport which passed the scanner. Interestingly enough the passport card and the passport were obtained at the same time from the US Passport Office. They both had the exact same photo and info on them. Glad I wasn't down in TJ trying to get back using the card.

Why don't we use fingerprint screening at all airports? All data can be collected UN cloud system. Retina and voice can be used as well.

Seems like a low "error rate." They identified the vast majority correctly.

Eye scan and finger prints and signature in AE... You can't run any where...

For me a better way of identification is embedding the finger prints or eyes prints to the passport that simple

Imagine the nightmare with the Kardashians at the airport... No hate intended. True, when I got surgery for my broken nose it came out slightly different and was back to France 2 years after with a heavy American accent: an officer blocked me and I when straight "into the room" for a +20 minutes interrogation. Aha. Maybe he thought I was an American involved in smuggling myself into France 😁

Why they going through pictures when they can catch with fingerprint.

My friend had travelled from Kuwait to India on his younger brothers passport with completely different face by mistake and he succeeded to clear all security checks at Kuwait Airport and get caught at Ahmedabad Airport immigration.

2022 new passports are different now,...biometrics, finger print & iris scan.

What if someone gets plastic surgery though?

It's ironic that the people building these sophisticated systems are so concerned with foreigners entering when they themselves are the descendants of foreigners. It's foreign-ception.

Well in the US and Canada you're also fingerprinted. So, no faking!

In Dubai finger mark and eye's scanned by mashine, I don't know why the hill in UK they haven't done all this strictly check.

How about facial cosmetic surgery? They look 100% different before and after.

What's the point in wasting time sending the photos to Canberra to see the difference when you can quickly check the fingerprints at the airport and see they don't match.

Just put retina fingerprint in a global database, no physical passport needed.

I had a problem my face did not look the same to romanian border officials on my passport which is only 2 yrs opd

Women can look so different with makeup. I new a woman years ago who i always saw out, night life. One day this woman was shouting my name in town in the day, kept hearing someone shout looked around could see no one, so thought she was shouting someone else. Then she grabbed me and then i recognised her voice. She had no makeup. Mind you she was better looking without the mask!

It's so simple for anyone to understand if you doing experiment like like to show the weakness or strenth of your country %100has to be positive otherwise it's very weak government

Ive always wanted to get on the wrong flight on purpose 😂 getting hard now with the biometric reader I’ve seen for international flights at a couple airports but ik it happens. Get a real nice cheap Spirit air ticket to Flint MI and board a flight to Aruba

See I hate the smart gates cos Gatwick tries to funnel me through them but the computer doesn’t like my face since jet lagged me has a even more jet lagged right eye but to be checked manually you need a member of staff to notice that it’s not likening you

Every passport should record fingerprints and they should be scanned at the border, together with facial features. This would make it basically impossible for dopplegangers to go undetected. I dont know why we still dont do it...

Catching fake ids can be learned. The same with passports. I make sure to wear the exact same shirt as my passport photo when I go to the airport. I have unique shaped upper body and I make sure my photo shows that.

Umm one cud get really good prosthetic and take photos and click passport photos and go to the office in the prosthetic. Real good prosthetic is hard to tell. I work in films so I’ve seen how realistic it can look. But one wud have to travel with prosthetic everywhere which can be risky. Haha
