There has always been a dominant hand sequence that most people learn for traditional purposes. Lots of teachers say to use the coordination that feels most comfortable to you. Wouldn't it be more inclusive to let a person decide if that orchestration is right for them? On conga it makes a bit more sense because the bass tone usually comes from a drum positioned to one side. But on djembe, when your sounds come from the same drum, why does it matter so much?
