Krista,I agree with you.But sad to say,some people try to ruin even a game show.What is in your heart comes out your mouth.

This is the first episode I saw in which Allen is not present and it's been a big surprise because if I watched 100+ episodes, Allen was of course present in all of them. I've got used to new host Jack Clark in a matter of minutes. hosting is no easy task even for Allen. So 3:50 into the video and I'm quite pleased with this new host.

Many people pronounce them exactly the same.

I watched that movie when it was shown in the 60's, & it's still one of my all time favorite films !

You notice she seemed to be a little hesitant when Hugh tried it a second time.

But the word was "yoke" not "yolk" anyway..

@@alanhumphrey4198 Yes, I know - but that doesn't really invalidate my remark does it? Or do you mean that in her reply she had actually been thinking about a 'yoke' and not a 'yolk'?

@@frikdt Your remark was fine, no problem; Allen Ludden should have confirmed what word she was saying--but I do realize there was the general rule that there was no spelling of words on PW. The words when spoken quickly do sound very similar..if pronounced precisely you should hear the "l" in yolk.

@@alanhumphrey4198 Ah, yes, I get what you're saying. But there is something else that is interesting. It's been a while since I had watched this, as you can see from the age of my first post, but just had another look. Don't know if you have noticed, but after the contestant had answered, the host (Jack Clark standing in for Allen) suggested that she had not given the actual word they were looking for but awarded her the points anyway. So it seems she was twice lucky on that one!

@@frikdt I had forgotten that it was Jack Clark instead of Ludden; I think Allen would have pressed her more on it had he been the emcee..anyway, as you say she was twice lucky there!!

What made it funny was how both contestants went for the word as "One who draws" which was totally unexpected.

It is spelled the same

Jack Clark filled in for Allen Ludden.
