Hard to believe Olivia lived to be 104 and only passed away in 2020.

Olivia de Havilland in her later years lived in Paris. She was also good friends with Robert Osborne and every Sunday Miss de Havilland and Mr. Osborne would talk for hours. My favorite movie that Miss de Havilland starred in was the 1949 movie "The Heiress."

I may be the oddball here, but I simply enjoy watching everyone react and play the game. Such an opportunity to see who they were. The game was secondary.

well the game is fun to watch but the reactions certainly do add to it.

I am a man I was born in 1976 I saw Olivie de Havilland for the first time in the movie Captain Blood from 1935. Her appearance in the film was not only the appearance of an excellent actress but also an amazing beautiful girl when she was 19 years old she was young and beautiful actually hypnotized me You can it was possible to fall in love with her without memory at first sight. This film, due to her amazing beauty, not only spiritual, but also beauty, was deep in the mine mind. As soon as the news of her death appeared, I immediately remembered her actor creation in this film. Olivio died for the world I can only write rest in peace for me and for many other fans who love your by film creations you will live forever and you will always remain in our memory Robert from Poland

It's almost frightening how much more natively intelligent people were back then compared to now. Even the episodes with Joan Crawford, who didn't have much education past grade school she exhibits a native intelligence and quickness that most people today don't have.

kinda scary huh? I blame some of it on internet, cell phones, technology in general.
@RayPointerChannel

Is it naivete or just manners and restraint that you are observing? The level of "enlightenment" may be a relative thing. Perhaps people are far too cynical and affected today. And maybe that lack of "quickness" you cite is based on the tendency to over analyze things, or just a basic lack of language comprehension.

Parents were more involved in children’s lives and education years past. FACT!!!!!

It is because we paid attention in school and took education seriously. We learned through books and not technology and therefore, we had to remember what we learned because it wasn't easy to look up what we needed on a computer. Even as children, we read substantial books and learned vocabulary. Plus we wrote more by hand then and when you do so, it has been determined that it better improves remembering the information you wrote. We regularly took notes in school, which is not done at all now. Plus we knew as a nation that education was key to our success in the world. Those were the days when boys wanted to grow up to be in the space program as astronauts and women realized that so many career paths were open to them.

Oh heck, I know he was being polite. I was just pointing out the simple fact that not all that long ago, a woman's role was to be a wife, and her identity lay with her husband.

People also forget that the players probably met the stars and Mr Ludden before the show to get them relaxed. If so, Mr Ludden would possibly know who was married. Or, he was just trying to put them at ease quickly, to get the game going.
@scottroth9811

Most likely contestants filled out questionnaires with details so Allen could greet them and set a relaxed tone before the game.

I think he knew beforehand who had a job and who didn't. I've seen plenty of episodes where he asked a woman about her job. But it wasn't as common then, so he wasn't going to ask every woman what her job was, only to have more than half of them explain that they didn't work and were housewives. Different era, he wasn't being sexist or insulting.

For chain (even as a first clue) I would've stretched it out a little and bobbed my head a little bit (to show a progression) and said the word "Llllinks…" - For Robot even as a first clue (certainly later on it should have even worked better) "Automaton." (FYI that's not "automation" but spoken like "Uh-TOM-uh-tawn."

I wonder how many synonyms there are for enormous? 200+? and they use at least one per show. and they always go down to 0. Doesn't make sense to keep saying Huge, large, gigantic, and so on. by clue #8 they get the idea and each pw giver can just say another over and over until the answer is given.

@Christopher Bingham He won because of his partners, not because of any intelligence on his part. He didn't know what a peignoir was, he couldn't think of a synonym for 'odor' besides 'smell', etc. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
