Very interesting talk by Prof. Jagatap. While his point regarding blind glorification of the past has some truth in it, a lot of Western bias is there in the paradigms we use for analysis. Archeological evidence must be painfully collected and matched with literary evidence as interpreted in our traditional context, to make sense of what has been lost. Skepticism must motivate us to do this research. Otherwise such skepticism will remain indistinguishable from a lot of Western criticism of our culture.

Thank you Professor. Enlightening lecture. Surprised to know that Salem steel exported to London through Parangipettai port for constructing a bridge.

This is one of the great interviews . Even in nutrition sector , a corresponding analysis of Charak and Harita shows the abyssmal low of the current science. There is a complex still and most of the time it is inferiority. To be seen to be validated by "modern science" and "evidence' is an important but currently inescapable part of this complex. But things are changing. I belong to a crazy buch of ppl who want to change this in our lifetimes . We have this sense of urgency because we believe , that , we should not leave problems to the gen next but solutions. We are unwilling to carry the burden of the generations of slavery, ignorance , deceit and exploitation and certainly not transfer it to gen next. MAny thanks to Profs Jagtap and Ramanathan.

Scientific skepticism point of Prof is valid .. but not at the cost of mocking what science we have. If we need to rely on the approval of the western method as validity (which is all science students) get post independence...... Their views are prejudiced. ... That's says a lot for them who need to be free of prejudice. Modern science educated in india are highly prejudiced ... How do we resolve that.

He mentioned lack of records at 3 universities that existed during previous pandemics. But those were colonial times, So can't be used to make conclusions about characteristics of Indian historians. Also, many universities and libraries have been destroyed during Islamic colonization and granthas stolen during British colonization so we can't say that there were no records earlier.
