Whenever you fight things can change up very quickly and you shouldn’t expect your enemy to be at their full strength all the time. Tanjirou surpassed akaza by unlocking transparent world but in that state he was already seriously injured. Akaza would’ve beaten them bc in that time tanjirou fainted and giyu was also heavily injured, but he killed himself instead. His fiancé held him back. If she didn’t he would’ve won. Akaza used his own attack against himself and that’s what led to his death. Even after tanjirou cut off his head he could still fight.
