Hi Stefan, well done for the correct answer. For your second sentence, I had been driving 200 km a day before I damaged my car or my car got damaged. Hope that helps!
@@oxfordenglishnow Thank you very much. My biggest wish is I to learn how to use the Perfect tense when I speak and write. It's a very big challenge for me. I have been making every day exercises for 1 week. Your videos help me very much.
The orchestra had been playing when a woman in the audience suddenly started screaming. What about this one is it true : the orchestra had been beginning playing when a woman in the audience suddenly started screaming. This is the second time I watch your grammar class and I found it really helpful thanks😍😍🤩
Hi, Great sentences! Don't forget to say how long the orchestra had been playing. The orchestra had been playing FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES when a woman in the audience suddenly started screaming. For the second sentence: The orchestra had just begun to play when a woman in the audience suddenly started screaming. This could work to but is not using the past perfect continuous! I hope that helps!
Can we use past continuous tense insted of past perfect continuous tense because this time (past c.) is used when we talk about something that is interruped in the past, or no?
Respected Ma'am, you are earnestly entreated to solve the following grammatical issue -The passengers of the train were sleeping/had been sleeping when the accident happened.Answer-were sleeping or had been sleeping?
Hi, As a native English speaker, I don't think this sounds right in the past perfect continuous tense, "I had been believing in Mum." I hope that helps!
Ma'am referring to your given example "The programme that was terminated had been working well since 2010", which action happened at first? Was it the 'termination of the programme' OR 'its successful working since 2010' when you draw a timeline? When the sentence is split, for me it seems as I would kindly state below:- - The programme had been working well since 2010. - Nevertheless, it was terminated thereafter I kindly see that the action of terminating the program came second. Could you kindly clarify in reference to your detailing between 4:01 and 4:08?

Has the past perfect progressive the same way of functioning as the past progressive Like If we say : I had been driving for two hours /or/ I was driving for two hours Is it the same?!
Hi Zainabe, funny you should ask that as I am just preparing a lesson on the difference between these two tenses. There is a slight difference in meaning. With the past continuous, it refers to an ongoing action in the past. The action may continue after an interruption. Whereas with the past perfect continuous, this talks about an action in the past that occurred before another action and the action stops after an interruption. Keep your eyes peeled for the lesson. I hope that helps.
Ma'am is that sentence correct or incorrect? I had arranged to meet Gary in a restaurant. I arrived and I had been waiting for him 20 minutes when I realised I was in the wrong restaurant. And thank you in advance.
Hi Akshat, the difference between if and when... well if means that it is not sure. He might not do something wrong. Whereas, if you use when you are assuming that he will do something wrong. 😊
