It took me days to learn the English tenses, weeks to study the German verb tenses, months to really understand the Spanish verb tenses and just 10 minutes to understand the Chinese tenses. This language doesn't stop to amaze me.

I love learning Chinese, but being an American, and learning Spanish as a teenager, i can't shake the feeling of something being missing in the sense that Chinese verbs do not get conjugated. 😢 I actually love Chinese, but I just feel that without it something is missing. Mandarin is so easy for being so complicated all at the same time.

oh it's easier than looks like =O, looks like chinese grammar it's much more easy.... so *要 (yao)* and * 会 (hui)* are all the auxiliary verbs we need to tell something in future tense?... I think that in this way make simple sentences easier for us to make and understand, everytime i learn some grammar differences it's very interesting... Thank you so much Yimin 老师! *_you are the number #1!!!_*

you are welcome , it's my pleasure, I m so happy that it helped, I will make more valuable content here. yes 要 and 会 have many meanings, they can be a normal verb, but here their role is being a auxiliary verb. 🙆😋

@@QuizmasterLaw Spanish is not easier? Like you, I can speak 12-13 languages but have found French, Spanish and Japanese the the easiest regarding grammar. Mandarin is just a little more difficult for me due to the word order and not always knowing whether you need a preposition before many words that you would normally use in English, whilst not being difficult, it is completely unlike English in its structure. Japanese, to me, is completely different in structure when compared to English but the word order is logical and repeatable with the particles being easy to use. Diff'rent folks, diff'rent strokes, I suppose...

Thank you Yimin for the lesson, I just started learning Chinese, but I can already see that its grammar is much simpler than English and that I will not have to learn twelve tenses😅 And now I wonder how to make a sentence with "if" and "would" 🤔 but probably you already have the answer in one your videos and all I need to do is to take a close look at your next lessons hah, thank you once again and love you from Ukraine 😊

I cannot understand conversations just yet, however I find it very interesting that I can follow along with the characters, even I can identify which one we are on and know what to expect to hear due to becoming familiar with most of the basic everyday characters. 😀 I find it fun to be able to read along even though I have no idea what is being said. It's strange that even if someone switched which characters are being displayed to a song or text, I cannot be tricked and I'll quickly realize it's the wrong characters from what is being said.

I thought Mandarin was so hard to learn, but you are an excellent teacher. 👏👌😀 After watching your HSK 1 videos a few times, I can read everything even without the Pinyin! I mostly know the correct tones, and I'm excited to start HSK 2. Honestly, it's harder than Spanish though for sure, I learned Spanish fluently a bit easier. Spanish has much more complicated time aspects and conjugation, however, I'm a complicated person 😅, so I actually do better with more details and longer words, I feel it's easier to remember than using the same short sounds and syllables just restacked in different orders. I like conjugation because it allows me to distinguish essier the subject and time with less words and no need for measure words.
@yiminchinese

you are so lucky for mastering Spanish , I am still confused with some conjugations, not sure when to use them 💖🍭😊
@thecalendarninja
@thecalendarninja 3 года назад
@@yiminchinese it's so easy after learning when to use the conjugations, I can help you with that. After putting in the work, it's so much better then English and much more beautiful sounding. I hate English, lol even though English is my 1st language. I think English sounds so nerdy lol.
@thecalendarninja
@thecalendarninja 3 года назад
@@yiminchinese I love conjugations, yes it's super difficult at first, but afterwards, the reward is that you can use less words and less time to say very detailed things, it adds more specificness to the language. English is my mother tongue, but I hate it because it doesn't have this amazing ability like Spanish does. In Spanish we can use one single word to be very clear about things that would take 3 to 4 words to express in English, and in some cases, it take a whole sentence in English to be that specific. I love Spanish and Mandarin, but I absolutely hate English it is so boring 😴.

Thank you for the amazing video. 我有一个问题。Sometimes people say 我知道了 (I already know) when we try to tell them something. But in your video you say that this word 知道 is a condition that doesn't need 了. So when do we use 了 and not to use it for the word 知道?
@yiminchinese
@yiminchinese 2 года назад
good question. when you talk about past, you don't need 了。 and when you use 了 , It normally has nothing to do with the time, instead, it is to indicate a CHANGE ,which is one of the function of 了. for example, when you tell me a news, after you say it, I say you 我知道了。 it means I didn't know it before, but now you told me , I know. it's a CHANGE.

我学习中文五年。I still have problem with the use of those characters. For instance : "I am tired" become "我很累" Then "Yesterday I was tired" How to say that ? "我昨天很累" ? I is like if something was missing... Or before seing your video I would have said "他们下一个月会结婚" But now I have to remove 会. If we struggle because there are less characters, I guess Chinese people struggle because of those word they have to add?
@yiminchinese
@yiminchinese 3 года назад
Thanks for writing Ben, congrats, your sentences are alright "Yesterday I was tired", 我昨天很累or 昨天我很累。 one thing can help you a lot if you keep it in mind is that, Chinese language depends on a lot the context to be understandable ,rather than the form, so you don't need to worry about that "something is missing ", eg, normally we don't suddenly say, "I was tired yesterday", there must be some context, or previous conversation, as long as both of you know you are talking about yesterday, a past time, you even don't need to put 昨天(yesterday) in the sentence. eg .. A : 你昨晚为什么没接我电话?why didn't you answer my phone last night. B:我太累了, 很早就睡了。 I was too tired, I went to sleep early . you see? they both know they talking about last night, so when B answers, he didn't put any time noun. And your second question ,yes it would be more nature to say , 他们下个月结婚,It' s already decided, it's going to happen. Hope it helps 🌺🤗🤗
