This brother seems to say that the translation debate rises to the level of legitimate grounds for a church split (I hope I misunderstood, please correct me if I did). Anyone making this claim should have *much* stronger biblical backing than he presented in this presentation. I don’t know of a bible passage that teaches me how to choose among Greek manuscripts. But I Corinthians 14 does tell me that the language we use in church should be intelligible. I encourage you to incorporate that principle when evaluating Bible translations.
Of course it is a reason for church split. If you tell me my Bible is riddled with errors, incorrect translations and uses the wrong base manuscripts we are not like faith and practice. If I believe in the providential preservation of scripture and you don't we do not believe the same thing. Not sure why that would even be in question.
@@casey1167 I wouldn't choose to attend a church that didn't subscribe to a high view of scripture (Sufficiency, Clarity, Authority/ and Necessity). I am an inerrantist and I believe God has preserved his Word. But in God's word, Jesus emphasizes his followers' unity (John 17). So if a teacher advocates separating from other believers, he must support his reason for separation with scripture. I don't believe this brother gave biblical support for his position, and I think that's because it doesn't exist.
