My Heart💔 Excuse my words. Take it or leave it. Jesus is Polygamous. His perfect marriage is polygamous. His wives are United as one. Please, monogamy is also not the standard of Marriage. And our bible strongly supports Polygamy. Never against it. Not even one scripture is against it or makes it look less important. It’s all about your Heart and choice

It's funny how we ask questions about God's will but direct the question to a fallible man. Christians need to know God for themselves and hear from Him first hand so that what you know is not anchored on a man's exegesis but on God's revelation of His word. Today it is an easy question, tomorrow it may be a controversial question. Learn to hear from God yourself on every matter regarding His will.

Christians don't like researching they believe anything any person says. The topic of polygamy is clear in the bible so you don't need any person to be called a professor to teach you about it. Study to proof yourself approved.

The words fornication does not mean sex before marriage. It rather means all forms of sexual immoralities; adultery, bestiality, sleeping with a woman in her menses, sodomy and incest. Adultery is not understood by many. In israel, if a man has a consensual sex with an UNMARRIED woman, it wasn't adultery even if the man is MARRIED. The man was suppose to go ahead and marry the woman as per the custom. He will pay 50 shekels(this was a fixed price) for all virgins. But if the father refuses, the man will still pay the fix price but the woman will remain in her father's house. Because her virginity was taken, no man will marry her, so she will be taken as a concubine by another man. This is why concubines were not part of the marital covenenants because they had already shed their hymenal blood on another man. But if a married or unmarried man sleeps with a Married woman. He has committed adultery and will be stoned to death because the woman belonged to another man. Adultery then was not based on the man but on the woman. This is why we often read "adulterous woman" in the scriptures more often. A married man only commits adultery when she sleeps with a married woman. But once a woman is married, no matter who she sleeps with, she has commited adultery. Now, there are other forms of uncleanness that are not necessarily adultery. 1. A man who sleeps with unmarried multiple women and does not marry them intentionally or take them for concubines. 2. A man who sleeps with prostitutes. 3. A woman who was a prostitute. By the way,God forbade temple prostitution because it was linked to gods and idols of the other nations but allowed regular prostitution in Israel. There is a difference bet6temple prostitution and regular prostitution. These were all unclean but were not classified as adultery .

Dr. Otabil intelligently present his understanding of the bible and pointed out the truth on the matter of marriage and polygamy *WITHOUT MENTIONING NAMES OR CALLING ANYONE FALSE OR FAKE. NEITHER DID HE WARN US OF ANY MAN OF GOD WHOSE VIEW MAY BE DIFFERENT FROM HIS.* Something you should learn!

Pastor Otabil didn't need to. He was asked a question and he answered it correctly. But there are times when it is necessary to pointedly call out those teaching error in order to warn people from being misled from the truth. Paul did that many times in His writings and we shouldn't shy from following his example if/when necessary. The preservation of Biblical truth should always take precedence over everything else.

What i gather is that there is no instruction from God against marrying more than one wife. Also Abraham is said to have married Hagar in Genesis 16:3. So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. Lastly even in the New Testament there is no explicit command against polygamy except that someone in a leadership role should be a man of one wife. Now as Christians we should base our understanding on scripture and what God says, not patterns that we see. I’m not advocating polygamy, I’m saying we shouldn’t add to the Bible what is not there.

We are not toddlers. This is convenient teaching full of assumptions of what God thinks. He struggled to debunk polygamy. He was inconsistent with who started polygamy. First he admitted Jacob started it and later said it was started by the acceptance of Kingship by Israel. He used his own logic to assume that God should have asked Noah/sons to married 7 wives if he wanted a fast track the increase in human race. His argument is whimsical and selective just like the supporters of polygamy. His argument was bereft of biblical justifications but full of Bible stories. He is very intelligent and eloquent with words and teachings so people are easily swayed to accept his opinions even when they are light weight

@MaxwellJuniorBaidoo-sq5zs I think Dr. Otabil was categorical about what he said. He also stated that although we have polygamous cultures before biblical days, and even afterward, this does not support the fact that God approves or approved of their mistakes. Marriage is not from a cultural perspective; it's God's perspective, thus objective.

Exactly, no man has ever had polygamy in their mind but the circumstances, such as disrespectfulness, lack of few things or changes of the wife) that pushes man to start looking around for what lacks from the first wife. I cannot blame this speaker, he's only speaking of what he thinks which has not Biblical Scripture....

Pastor Menta Otabil is brain washed like others. It's true God gave Adam one wife but did He create a law? It is only a law that would forbid plural marriage of more than one wife. I am crying because people have created a law where God made no law. Now in Exodus 21:10 the scripture gives instructions on management of plural wives. How can God instruct on plural wives if it was against his commandments? It shows, "A husband with two wives should meet the conjugal rights of both two wives". Exodus 21:10. Now in Exodus 20: God gives ten commandments and 21 is a continuation of Chapter 20. I weep for Christians who are against plural wives. In Romans 7:2-3 adultery is only when a woman gets married while her husband is still alive but when he does she is made free of law. My fellow Christian leaders add to the scripture that God never spoke. It is a curse. I am weeping for Christians who believe the LIE that marrying another wife is breaking the commandment of God. Where is the commandment? If there is probably hidden in any scripture then Exodus 21:10 is not the word of God. I am crying 😭😭😭😭😭 The same God who gave Adam one wife is the same God who gave David more than one wife. He claims to have made David a husband of more than one wife. 2 Samuel 12:1-8. The scriptures cannot be broken. Monogamous Marriage is not a law nor Polygamous Marriage a law nor Celibacy a law. But the one that is given to Celibacy or monogamous or polygamous (Polygyny) is free. Celibacy is not for everyone and monogamous is not for everyone and Polygamous is not for everyone. From Genesis to Revelation, there is no where that God spoke against polygamy. It would however be accepted that the initial concept of instituting marriage was for one man one wife "from the beginning it was not so" Mt.19.8, buy as society began to expand coupled with the reduction of the men due to incessant wars, and other factors, the vacuum for polygamy was created. If God Himself who is the same yesterday, today and forever Heb. 13.8, didn't condemn the practice of polygamy, as shown in Exodus 21.10, and encouraged in 2 Sam.12.8, the practice of polygamy should therefore not be seen as sin.......

This pastor is a liar... He doesn't even know the scriptures. is it not written here Isaiah 4:1 And seven women shall take hold of one man in that day, saying, “We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; take away our reproach.” and again, Exodus 21:10 If he takes him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish. also in the the law, it was written, Deut 21:15 “If a man has two wives, the one loved and the other unloved, and both the loved and the unloved have borne him sons, and the firstborn son belongs to the unloved, This means God knows there is a possibility that a man may marry more than one wife. God has no problem with it. only that a Deacon or an elder must be a man of one wife as is the teaching of the apostles. Adam is great.. Oga how. sin entered the world through Adam. yet he married one wife and yet he became the author of our sinful nature. Noah married one wife because he chose to. david married multiple wives because he chose to. God has received them both. Abraham was a Monogamist while Jacob was not. But God has received them both. They both executed justice and mercy and served God and it was well with them. I hope you know that there is no marriage in the kingdom of God after glorification. No one can say this is my wife or that is my wife anymore when the kingdom of God comes. for we will be like the angels. it is the hypocrisy for me. we left the weightier matters of the law of love, mercy, and justice. Teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Pastor sir, it gives me the pleasure to contribute to this simple but complex subject matter "polygamy" you are totally wrong to say that Abraham the father of faith in whose loin the righteous ones that died before Christ were kept committed adultery? Sir, this is blasphemy and sacrilegious of a man of God to say because God never called Abraham adulterer or fornicator Hagar was considered second wife of Abraham .Through her the scripture was fulfilled that says Abraham shall be the father of many nations(gentiles) on one hand. Sarah is the promise wife and by her the nation of( Israel ,Jews) came to be.Therefore, the father of faith Abraham bible called the friend of God, God can't call a fornicator or adulterer friend Abraham was a confirmed polygamist. Coming to Jacob, you clearly wriggled the explanation you give through intellectualism that's wrong the word of God is best explained and understood by nature through revelation in the HOLY SPIRIT. What on earth could be worst than a preacher saying polygamy is of the devil delegitimizing the twelve sons of Jacob whose names are written on the twelve gates leading to new Jerusalem above because were born by four wives of Jacob later renamed ISRAEL meaning the Prince of God.One valid point about great men of faith who were polygamists never asked God for forgiveness as should in the case of fornication or adultery God remains the God of ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB both in new and old testaments. Therefore polygamy is of God but not everyone has that gift

Polygamy is polygamy irrespective of the reasons or circumstances behind it. If Jacob's situation is being justified by his prevailing circumstances back then, then almost every polygamist today would and should also be justified because they would even have more justifiable circumstances for polygamy today than Jacob did back then. Please as christians we should all study scriptures for ourselves and not just accept a doctrine because it came from a popular man of God. I love Pastor Otabil, he is a man of God but I don't just agree with everything just because of that status but because of my personal knowledge of the scriptures which has helped me. Furthermore, I'm also curious to know the circumstances behind that of Solomon or David (a man after God's heart) who had several wives and was still commended by God.

Praise God we still have preachers like Pastor/Bishop Mensa Otabil. The other reason why Old Testament men of God could have concubines and multiple wives and remain upright is also because of biblical dispensationalism. In the Old Testament for example, some men like Seth (Adam's Son after the Cain and Able debacle) could only marry their sister. Marrying his sister was the only way he could have a wife with whom to procreate. It was not a sin then. Father Abraham's wife Sarah was also his sister, his father's daughter from another wife. It was not a sin then but later, even in the Old Testament, it became a sin as Old Testament scriptures clearly show/say. Drinking beer for pleasure was also largely not a sin in the Old Testament. In the New Testament however, it is a sin to become drunk for pleasure. In fact, in the Old Testament, being drunk from wine on the Jewish day of Pentecost allegorized being drunk with the Holy Spirit in the New Testament period/dispensation. Intake of alcohol is only allowed/not sinful in the New Testament when it is done for medicinal purposes. But as Bishop Mensa Otabil says, you can also learn even from the Old Testament that Polygamy was bad from some dreadful consequences of Old Testament polygamy.

Who else could Adam have married aside Eve. If we're going according to the creation story and Adam and Eve where the first 2 human beings then anyone who came after them would've been their descendants so in the 900 years Adam was alive who else was he to marry aside Eve. So Adam isnt a good case study for this argument. Noah on the other hand chose to have one wife together with his son and its widely believed that Noah was seen to be crazy when he was building the Ark so it would be highly unlikely to convince multiple women to marry him and after the flood he couldnt marry any other womem bcoz all the other womem would either be his son's wives or his descendants. The bible clearly states in genesis 16:3 that and i quote " So after Abram lived 10 years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram's wife, took hagar the Egyptian, her servant and gave her to Abram her husband as a wife. So how then can Pastor Mensah Otabil with all due respect say Abraham didnt marry a second wife. Isaac married one and had a peaceful marriage but little was also said about him. With Jacob indeed he was tricked into marrying Leah but he wasnt forced to marry Rachel he chose to and no one forced him to take the maidservants as wives or concubines. Also when you say Rachel's children didn't contribute to Israel that would be quite false because had it not been for Joseph Jacob and his son's would've perished in Canaan. So Jacob's life is a perfect example of how beneficial Polygamy was to Israel survival. Then when it comes to Moses unless the honorable Pastor Mensah Otabil has a different Bible that he's reading than how can you say Moses wasn't a polygamist. In exodus 2:21 Jethro gave one of his 7 daughters precisely Zipporah to Moses as a wife and they had 2 sons I believe. In numbers 12:1 Moses was criticized for marrying a cushite woman. The bible doesn't mention if Moses wife zipporah was already dead so we can assume that she was alive. In that case Moses had 2 wives and was a polygamist. The fact that Aaron had one wife is inconsequential. I'm very disheartened that such a great man of God would say that Samuel warned the Israelites that the King they wanted would multiply wives when there is no truth to that. Anyone can read 1 Samuel 8 to confirm what I'm saying. However there was a warning by Moses earlier that a king should not take plenty wives which some bible scholars use to ban Polygamy However that same verse speaks about gaining a lot of wealth so from inference if Polygamy is wrong bcoz of that verse than so is becoming wealthy. Also when Pastor Mensah Otabil says that Polygamy started from the kingship, is he telling me that he's forgotten that Samuel's father Elkanah had two wives Peninnah and Hannah. So how did it start the with Kings. Also God never disapproved of David's many wives, infact the same bible in 2 Samuel 12:8 emphatically states that I gave you your masters household and your masters wives into your arms .... and if that had not been enough I would've given you more in response to David taken Uriah's wife. The problem with David was taking another man's wife. Solomon on the other hand may have went overboard with the number of wives he married but his actual sin wasn't marrying plenty wives but marrying foreign women who turned his heart away from God and that's what caused God's wrath towards his family and caused the kingdom to split. Had Solomon married many Israelite wives maybe he wouldn't have faced the same problems. Perfect example is King Ahab and Queen Jezebel there's no mention of another wife of King Ahab but Ahab did many wicked thing just due to his one foreign wife. Jesus was asked about marriage twice in one instance he was asked about the Jewish tradition of a man Marrying his dead brothers wife to give birth to an heir for his brother and which of the brother's would actually be considered the husband of the said wife in the afterlife of which he answered there would be no husband's and wives in heaven just like how angels aren't married. Another instance he was asked about divorced in which he referred to the beginning. So I find it difficult to understand how Polygamy is frowned upon yet Christians can get divorced an no eye is raised. Also Apostle Paul was the only apostle in the new testament who spoke against Polygamy and to be honest he was a bit biased towards monogamy this was an apostle who believed it would be better not to be married if you wanted to effectively do the work of God so it's quite understandable that he would be against Polygamy. And that was even restricted to Men of God and Church Elders. Pastor Mensah Otabil is such an Awesome Man of God and much respect to him but I think he got this topic wrong. I don't think Polygamy is the norm however I believe God has no problem whatsoever with Polygamy and its meant for some not all. Let's learn to read the bible for ourselves and pray to God for discernment.

Interesting video clips. In trying to correct the initial preacher, the later preacher made more errors, in my view. I think the problem here is a difference in orientation about scriptural interpretation. Both preachers are wrong. I disagree entirely with their arguments. They are both trying to defend their personal feelings of what should be, using clearly Jewish examples, which is illogical because Christianity (the way of life of Christ) transcends any other culture. They did not quote any bible verse that clearly says polygamy is right or wrong or any specific directive from God about it. At least, I thought they would ask what would Jesus do or advise? But, none of them did. My view about scriptures is this: wherever God has clearly made no law, do NOT make one and try justifying it with illogical examples. The Bible from Genesis to Revelation made no law or commandment about polygamy. It is neither condemned nor approved. The Jewish patriarch examples shared by the last preachers show that each married as many based-on choice, circumstances, and the context they found themselves. None was condemned for being polygamist in the scriptures. Only Paul, the apostle, was bold to admonish that a bishop should be a husband of one wife in the early church era. Everyone in the church is NOT a bishop or seeking to be one. Now, does it mean polygamy should be allowed or promoted? Already, civil laws in many countries regulate marriages. It is more of a cultural and legal matter today than a religious one. As far as Christianity is concerned, Jesus the Christ, married nobody by all records, and many of the apostles left all and followed Christ. If we are to follow patterns as the last preacher advised, Christians should choose celibacy and dedicate their life to God's service like Jesus and most of the apostles did. Ooh, that pattern is NOT agreeable, right? Therefore, each person and local congregation should be allowed to make their choice or make regulations based on their realities and context. Apostle Paul advised the Corinthians to each get a wife to avoid fornication and went on to recommend that men love their wives as Christ loves the church. Again, by that analogy, the church is many in one body, and Christ loves us all, each as His Bride. So, a man can also marry the woman or women he can love and unite as one. Ooh, that can lead to crisis and lots of trouble in homes. That is exactly why this topic should be left to individual choices, context, and the marriage laws of the countries where they live. The Bible neither condemned nor approved of polygamy, so no one should do so on behalf of God. #MyView

Few corrections ABRAHAM: He didn't practice adultery with Hagar. Hagar was a concubine and concubines could engage in sexual affair with their masters butbwere not part of the marital covenant. JACOB: It's clear that Jacob had no problem with polygamy because he still went ahead slept with his two concubines after he had Leah and Rachel because of the need for children. MOSES: He had two wives and not one. Ziporrah was his first wife with whom he had two children with, Gershom and Eliezer. And the Cushite woman he married in Numbers 12:1. POLYGAMY is not ideal but it surely wasn't something God hated. He gave room for that. The father of faith(Abraham)-- sex with Sarah and Hagar The prophet of the law(Moses)- Ziporrah and the Cushite woman. The picture of king of Judah(David)-- Multiple wives. The picture of knowledge, wisdom and understanding (Solomon) - multiple wives and concubines. And many more and not once was any rebuked by God for engaging in multiple wives. Solomon was only rebuked because she married from other nations and David rebuked because she slept with another man's wife which is adultery.

@sirlearn 8 месяцев назад
Now in the body Christ. Ofcourse one wife is encouraged but again it's not an instruction. Just as the high priest was entitled to only one wife in the old testament, but the rest of Israel is not bound by such a law. Bishops, deacons and leaders of the churches should be husbands of one wife, but the rest of the congregation are no bound by such a an instruction. If a believer has two wives, his responsibilities for the Lord will be greatly impeded just as one with one wife will be as compared to an unmarried one. Therefore Paul advises that we should stay unmarried but to avoid burning in lustful passion, we should marry. So it's not the marriage itself that's wrong but the effect of it in the Lord's work.

It was Jesus who expanded and extended it to the man. The Bible is even silent whether the man being referred to by Jesus was married or not but clearly the woman was married (John 8:9-11) and in Matthew 5: 27-28 he said looking lustfully to a woman was adulterous which translated to being unfaithful to God

The problem is that we now use the current situation we are in ,to judge the past generation, where by whatever they observed then, was totally ok with God permission. Jesus said in the Bible, He is the Way ,( not the Only way), therefore, we shouldn't condemned the other ways as they were not on our way. Abraham was never a Christian nor jecob and the others, so calling them as adulterers or fornicators may lead us to big problem before Their Lord. God have more Mercy.

I expect a polygamous man and his wives who become born-again Christians after the polygamy scenario is already active to be left alone. But for a brother or a sister who became born-again before marriage to maintain the excellent way of monogamy. However, a polygamous man can only be a brother with no leadership role in church. 1Tim.3.2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; -- NKJV. This scripture automatically means in a church there can be people who are polygamous and therefore not qualified to hold any church leadership position but allowed to be church members.

Yes, it is obvious that there will definitely be some people who cannot live up to that standard. Polygamy is not endorsed by the church. It's a choice, and one has to pay the price and face the consequences of his choices in life, and so i believe that God will judge the polygamous husband on the basis of sincerity and fairness in the treatment of his wives and managing his household since that is the path he chose to follow. We must also understand that if Polygamy was made the rule of thumb, there will also be some men who will fall short because of their perceived innate tendency for monogamy. Both of them are not for all, and the principle applies to all.

Otherwise you are in trouble because jealousy can make a wife kill another wife or even kill her husband. It is true that God is not against Polygyny but this knowledge is not in every Christian. Some because of ignorance will be like Cain who killed his brother. God was not wrong to favor Abel. Cain had a chance but was ignorant.

Dr Otabil breaks down the words as it’s should, if you don’t read the word yourself, you will be deceived big time, and all this polygamy issues is an excuse of people to abuse their partners emotionally and satisfy their vices, even looking at the one who did it in the Bible they were wealthy but in this generation they cannot take care of one wife but want many, and also they forgot the consequences of that actions and they reason behind it . 1 Corinth 10:23 says You say, “I am allowed to do anything”-but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything but not everything is beneficial Let us pray for wisdom and knowledge while reading the word and get the true revelation from it Don’t be fooled, READ THE WORD with the help of the Holy Spirit, and live a life pleasing unto to the Lord 🙏🏽🙏🏽Shalom

The final judgement shall be around Salvation which is the ultimate and not Religion. We all know in parts, but when the Lord and Saviour shall appear the unknown shall be unveil. Stick to scriptures. 2 Peter 3:3 ESV - knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own "sinful desires." Matthew 19:8 NKJV - He said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, "but from the beginning it was not so." Thank God for this clear and Biblically-sound teaching on Polygamy by Pastor Otabil. May all who may have been misled or confused by the erroneous message Dag gave on the subject, find the needed correction from it. Ministers of the gospel, like all humans, make mistakes in their teachings and conduct, and when they do, we must lovingly, but firmly, call them out, not make excuses for them or try to defend the indefensible out of sheer loyalty to them. Our first and highest loyalty must always be to God, His Word and His kingdom, not to any man, no matter his position or role in our lives.

I am a Polygamous husband and a servant of God. Just like they don't accept Paul authoritatively giving no permission for a woman to lead or teach so I didn't accept Paul's writings on a leader "must be a man of one wife". God accepts me because I don't believe in one witness Paul alone to establish a doctrine. Every doctrine must be established by two or three witnesses. Believing Paul alone is misleading. I have taught on Polygamous Marriage (Polygyny) in a very deeper acceptable manner. I don't advocate for polygamous marriage because Abraham and David were Polygamous but I advocate because God says so.

Great analytical message on polygamy by the elderly pastor. We are living in a world of misery. I use to think about the many women in the world compared to their less populated male counterparts, alarming ratio of 10 women to 1 man. Polygamy isn't biblical but how do we care and protect the surplus women in the world today? Is there a science that could stop humanity from giving birth to more female children but more males in order to equalize the ratio of men to women? Many of us supported pastor Mensah hypocritically, we're not being sincere. Polygamy is a sin but we're right in there with the surplus women around, we still admire the beautiful girls down the street and even in our offices. What's that called? Have you ever researched why men behave the way they do? Why did God wired men to be so sexually attracted to women they see appealed to them? It's a bit painful seeing our surplus women in the world die of loneliness, depression, and sometimes childlessness. Should the surplus women be individually deprived of their right of getting a soul mate since all men are taken? What will be the future consequences of having too many women compared to men in a society? Is it okay for the surplus women to be alone?

So the fact that though you have eaten and you're full, because there's a spare food and it can go bad the next day, you must of necessity eat that one too no matter the health implications? And who decieved you that all the Women walking in this world can't get a husband? Who told you so? What you've just written is the same excuse and lies being perpetrated by men who know not Christ and are deliberately finding every excuse to have multiple sexual partners. I have always said that some of you, no matter the Truth you here from the Scriptures, because your hardened hearts and your arrogance of the kind of life you're leading, you will still look for flimsy excuses, lies and strange analysis to help you still live the wrong and sinful lives you're in. Even if for nothing you should've read the answer Jesus gave to the pharisees. He was clear that in the beginning God made them one man and one woman. Please which woman in this Country or all over the world has been telling you she needs help with regards to a husband? Did our women ask you to pity them that way? Has the women in the world been complaining to you or you're the one speaking for them out your own guilt or strong uncontrolled lust? Even if there happens to be more cars on Earth than humans, it never ever justifies a man who goes robbing companies and people of their cars with the excuse that he is going to dash it to those who do not have. Life is not like that. If you want to keep on remaining in your sins, fine, but don't justify evil with flimsy and wrong analysis. There are many Men for all women, let them choose one each and settle down and stop the sinful lies.
