I love the caution tape, because years later he became an actual threat to the rap scene, bringing a change they weren't ready for. Even when he started to make big numbers, the rap scene wasn't aware of his presence because he felt under the radar and suddenly he is in the top charts.
As an "Elder millennial," I have been a lifelong fan of hip hop, but have never heard of NF before your reaction videos. I enjoy not only his artistry but the honesty that he shows in his own mental health struggles. I think artists like this, Christian or not, resonate especially with those in Recovery, who often need to be reminded they are not alone in this world. Some notable hip hop artists who have chronicled their journey through recovery, mental health, and "thirty-something growing pains" include Macklemore, Joyner Lucas, King Iso, Dax, and Logic. Disclaimer, mostly explicit lyrics in most songs but recovery and depression are usually feelings most accurately described with explicit language. I believe many of those in recovery don't get the representation or acknowledgement they deserve and it's important to know other people like us are out there
Great, I'm 48, African-American that has struggled with mental health issues. I listen to NF exactly for the reasons he states in the end of "Therapy Session". Since the Pastor is having problems with the speed of the lyrics slow down your playback. SUGGESTION:5 Nate off "The Search" album, can really help out the Pastor understand NF.
Yes. I think Nate should be one of the first songs for every NF Journey. Keep pushing it. It is the earliest life of NF and it explains a ton of what he went thru, in addition he even gives us a short synopsis of his career and Discography.
I think the line "I live in these bars" refers to the prison (pain) he would introduce later in the album Perception. In How Could You Leave Us he says "pain is a prison, let me out of my cell."
I don't know how many people are going to follow this whole journey, but do it for me if no one else. I am subscribed and want be a part of this journey. As a long time listener of NF, I never really watched any of his music videos until he dropped "clouds". I bet Bret would listen to "Oh Lord" in his car.
The Moments album is expressly Christian and it was released by a more independent label. The main thing is he didn't feel he was being true to himself. He wasn't called to be a Pastor, although he ministers to millions of people pretty much every day. He has 4 billion streams at this point. The other reason he didn't like the Moments album was he sounded too much like Eminem. That is just my opinion. There are some really great Christian songs on this album, I would do the song I'll Keep On and Can You Hold Me which sometimes aren't listed on the NF Journey only because they don't push the storyline. When you do Can You Hold Me I would suggest you do the one the youth group of teens did since NF didn't make a video for it. These kids put an incredible video to the song which has like millions of views.
I actually loved the Moments album. It wasn't his best by musical standards, but he had some great lyrics in there. He was saying a lot about his faith and the way we all feel trying to discover ourselves and control circumstances during "moments" of our lives. CIRCLES is an awesome concept, and I believe he expressed that within the HOPE video. Btw...if you really enjoy this stuff together...maybe pick a few of those MOMENTS album tracks.
forget about the journey, you should do album by album so you understand his beginning album to his new album Hope, that way you understand how he began, also he a artist who is Christian, he said in a interview if a plumber who is Christian does that make him a Christian plumber,
