You are right in the sense that anyone will find in the Bible or Quran whatever they want to find to support their message. But the fact of the matter is that both of these books are filled with good things and with bad things. In order to support one's message, one simply just has to ignore certain parts of these books and acknowledge other parts. Jihadists aren't "misinterpreting" parts of the Quran that say one must kill all infidels, nor are homophobic Christians "misinterpreting" parts of the bible against homosexuality.

Romans 1:27 does say " And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. No to me that verse is not in agreement with a homosexual lifestyle that doesn't mean that it is telling you to hate or act like you can't stand to be around, eat with, hug, laugh with your family member who is gay. SOME people who are homophobic use the same verse to justify hating homosexuals and acting like they are vampires or zombies to not touch and avoid at all cost.

This is essentially what I mean by "homophobia", not necessarily that homphobes hate all gays, but that they believe that there is something inherently wrong about being an openly gay person. This is something that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all preach to some extent, and many people hold this belief simply because it is in these books. And even then, homophobia isn't a very clear cut example. I could've used a better one. My whole point is that many of these books are contradictory. There are parts of the Bible which suggest that being gay is not right, and then there are other parts of the Bible which say that as long as you accept Jesus Christ and treat others the way you want to be treated then you a living righteously. Similarly, there are parts in the Bible which condone slavery, which is contradictory to the golden rule. There are parts in the Quran which say that killing innocent people is unacceptable, then there are parts which say kill all infidels and apostates.

But her comment wasn't focusing on the pastor. it was just highlighting that the breakfast club made God a topic of conversation & what a positive message that is. Because if you listen to the whole interview. He does break down certain common questions that many non religious, non Christians have about God & Jesus. So no matter which way you view it...it was a positive message they were giving that day. Whether you believe they profit or are just in it for money.

But Christianity is a religion. Paul said the law is good. Jesus came to fulfill the law. We must love God and others, but also abide by God's laws. Christianity is deeply about morality, it's all over the entire Bible. Dogma isn't necessarily bad, without it, any heresy could distort Christ's True Message, and Paul warned against False Teachers. We actually agree. People think rules are bad and not cool, but we need order and structure.

Jesus is called son of God because he was born with the word which means he never needed to be baptised. however it also says in John that once somebody has been baptised then it gives them the right to call themselves a child of God, because they are born again with the Word.
