The Rev. 4:1 attempt to suggest that someone is "raptured" totally ignores what occurs in 1 Cor 15:42-54 and 1 Thess 4;13-18. That is because in Rev 4:2, John states, "And immediately I was in the spirit..." (I Personally know individuals who met in Heaven, prior to meeting up on Earth. These heavenly encounters are quite common and not exclusive to what John experienced and . wrote of in Rev. 4:1) To be in Heaven.... dead or alive... is to be absent from the physical body.... as Paul points out in 2 Cor 5:8, and how he directly states that the physical body does not go to heaven.... vs. 50 of 1 Cor 15:42-54.... In this passage, Paul shows the distinction between the physical body, and the spiritual body.... vs 44. The context of what Paul is speaking about, is what happens to the physical body. In this passage, Paul states it twice that the DEAD are changed from corruptible/perishable bodies to incorruptible/imperishable bodies. Corruptible is defined by Scripture... Acts 2:30 as rotting in the grave. For the physical body of Christ did not see corruption. The living are changed from mortal to immortal. Here again.... the spiritual body is not to topic, but the physical... for the spiritual body is eternal in nature. The physical body is carnal and temporal in nature, and stays behind when people go to heaven. At this point it is important to address the pretrib mantra of "we get glorified bodies at the rapture". Paul only speaks of "glorified bodies" in the context of being in heaven... in glory. Phil 3:20,21 Therefore, it is the spiritual body that is glorified and not the physical body, for the physical body is our Earth suits while on a physical Earth. Paul is speaking about the physical body in 1 Cor 15:42-54 concerning being changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. Pretribbers often seem to express an overhaul of their spiritual body here as well, when Paul isn't address that in this passage, for the simple fact that the spiritual body is eternal and does not die. Here again, it is necessary to point out that Paul calls this event "the resurrection of the dead".... vs. 42. That is the event he didn't want us ignorant about in 1 Thess 4:13-18, and points out the sorrow which is occurring... and why the need to "comfort one another with these words". It is because the Sadducees taught that there was no resurrection of the dead. To change the name of what Paul calls it, "the resurrection of the dead"(1 Cor 15:42) to "rapture" removes the focus and context of the passage to the living, rather than the dead. Paul tells us that the DEAD return with Christ... 1 Thess 4:14. (That would be their spiritual bodies from heaven). They now have the physical bodies "RISE FIRST"...vs 16 and TOGHETHER with the living are caught up to meet Christ in the air.... NOW REUNITED WITH THEIR SPIRITUAL BODIES.. Why do they need their earth suits if they are headed back to heaven for 7 years? And how can they return to Heaven with their Physical bodies when Paul DIRECTLY states that these physical bodies do not go to heaven.... 1 Cor 15:42-45...see vs. 50? Christ modeled His return in Acts 1:9-14, and He returns 'in like manner as He left". He left the Mount of Olives to the sky/clouds, and then into Heaven. Therefore He comes from Heaven, to the sky/clouds where the resurrection of the dead takes place, and He then continues to the Mount of Olives with ALL of His saints... Zech 14 :4,5. There is no yo-yo trip back to heaven for any length of time! The resurrection of the dead is exactly that.... the return of the Physical bodies.... Earth suits... so that the dead in Christ can rule and reign with Christ for 1000 years on a physical world without being disembodied spirits or ghosts!
