G'day Dick, Your Yamaha EF2600 is serving you well - it would be about 25 years old. They have life-time bearings so just keep on maintaining it as you do. We still have spare parts support for the bearings which we order directly from Japan when your current one wears out. All the best to you mate.

@@max61203 No idea! It doesn't get so much use these days, as we've also installed a solar system; but the genny still starts first/second pull, generates well, and doesn't make any unseemly noises while doing so.

Make sure you have fresh fuel 91 octane, no ethanol fuel. Also did you open the fuel breather on the fuel cap

@@petermiller5494 Yes, breather cap is open.. Fuel is different issue as I am in El Salvador (came down the coast on my boat) and no one can tell me whether there is ethanol in the local fuel or not. I think probably not. All I can do is buy the highest grade gasoline available and use a fuel additive. My 2.5 and 6hp outboard engines run ok with that. If it was ethanol waxing out, surely it would not start, rather than start then stop?

@@yamahageneratorsau The video didn't show the removal of the spark arrestor, only the muffler screen so I thought that I might be doing something wrong as it wouldn't come out as stated in the owners manual.

Hi Milton, the oil prop used in the video is incorrect. Yamaha generators should only use 10w30 oil. generatoryamaha.com.au/our-range/accessories/yamalube-sae-10w-30/

@@wellcross100 10W30 is pretty thick when its below zero F. Pulling on even a small engine that cold is hard. Here it gets down to -20 F, thats when it's hard to start the diesel too. You sound like you must be in Australia or maybe NZ . I like a hour meter ,no guessing on oil changes.

Pour it out, run it dry.

@@max61203 Thanks. We finally learned. We needed to removed 2 screws off the cover, and unscrew the carburetor's screw to make it drain. Leaving gas in the carburetor destroyed the carburetor's pieces so the generator stopped workingm Now we drain it after each use because we dont know how long it will be in storage because power is going and coming randomly these days due to power company infrastructure collapsing. @@AngelHdzMultimedia Just shut the fuel off and let it run till it shuts off. Takes a couple minutes. I always do this after running them. I let my Yamahas sit for for a year and it fired right up on old gas.
