On a rainy February Thursday morning in Ottawa, Pat King, having not slept, says he is being followed by undercover officers, which he compares to great white sharks.
King and his friend George cruise upon a parking lot full of marked police cars. King says they are under surveillance and that it is time to "surveil the surveilors". He mentions something about people spotting "prisoner transport" vans earlier. Throughout the video, King is on the lookout for suspicious activity around him.
King repeatedly states that the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) has no jurisdiction in Ottawa. That is untrue - following the resignation this week of Ottawa's Police Chief Peter Sloly, the OPP and RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) have been put in charge. This fact has been widely reported by credible media outlets.
King also urges his followers to join the convoy as desperately needed reinforcements in Ottawa.
After some relaxing in the parking lot with friends, someone calls King's phone and he laughs it off upon reading that the caller ID says California. He then reconsiders his decision and ends the live stream to check if it's "one of our guys we're in connection with in California".
Later on Thursday, convoy organizers Tamara Lich and Chris Barber were arrested. Daniel Bulford, who spoke in convoy press conferences as part of the security team, later turned himself in for arrest.
On Friday, Pat King was arrested on several charges while doing a live stream from a vehicle.
Barber was granted bail late Friday afternoon. He was released on $100,000 bond, and some of the conditions reportedly include leaving town and regularly checking in as to his whereabouts. Barber cannot publicly endorse the convoy or have any contact with other organizers. He was quoted as saying, "My organizing days are done. I just want to go home".
Lich is awaiting a bail hearing on Saturday.
