That would be a travesty. Mahomes already runs or scrambles like a pregnant woman running away from zombies in high heels. He's awkward and Travis throwing the ball would not be advantageous for the Chiefs
Pat sounds like he's sticking up for the entire Patrick M. community, but it's entirely warranted. Mahomes is special, and judging his career based on the outcome of a single game is ludicrous. I hope he wins just to madden all the haters
@shivanshdesai1519 if he's going to be compared to the goat brady, then what he does in the biggest moments matter. Every sb loss will be a knock against his goat case.
@@Michael-tc1dm I guess goat convo wise then yeah you gotta just win em. The back to back thing is also a thing. Montana had a back to back. Brady did too. Montana also has a ridiculous Super Bowl qbr average. Kinda more so why I brought up quality of play I guess.
As a niner’s fan. All year media said chiefs offense isn’t the same as last year plus hella drops and they still made it to the Super Bowl. Even if he loses it won’t do nothing to his legacy.
100% the goalpost moving on mahomes is crazy. People said he would be lucky to get out of the first or second round with the talent he had this year. Now that he's in the Superbowl a lot of people seem to think that just meant they were wrong before, which they wouldn't have been.
💯 And so far these playoffs Purdy went against the two worst defense in the league and Mahomes went against the 4th ranked defense in takeaways and the number one overall defense. The fact they’re here with the team they have is a testament to him…
They have some stupid questions on First Take, mostly because they have to come up with questions every day…but they have some ridiculous situations to have conversations about
There are no passes when it comes to the GOAT conversation. Stats matter. The eye test matters. W/L record in the Super Bowl matters. So yes, if he loses it does matter and there are no passes or exceptions. It doesn’t mean he’s trash but to lose to Mr. Irrelevant certainly will matter.
Who is going to blame Mahomes if the Chiefs lose? No one in their right mind. Who will say Purdy beat Mahomes? Again, no one in their right mind. Mahomes will still be Mahomes and if the Chiefs lose, it won't be because of his performance. Blaming him for a loss that he likely didn't create would be the height of stupidity. As for Purdy...you do know that the QBs don't play each other, right? That they essentially are playing 2 different teams...you know, offense versus defense and how the teams change out players when possession changes, right? So yeah, no one should say Mahomes beat Purdy or Purdy beat Mahomes...no one who actually understands how the game works.
@@tylerwarner1528 Because Dee Ford had a finger over an imaginary line when the Chiefs literally had the game won with a minute or less on the clock. The ball was given back to the Pats and the Pats tied it up. The Pats then won in OT, without the Chiefs ever touching the ball. The question was raised about changing the rules so that both teams had to have possession in OT but, Lawdy NO, couldn't do that after the Pats had just gone to the SB over the Chiefs by doing that exact thing. Now we come to the Chiefs/Bills game, where the Chiefs won in OT without the Bills getting the ball and you never heard such a clamor and uproar...gotta change the rule right away because it's okay for the Pats to take advantage of it but we can't have the Chiefs do so. So all those folks that think so highly of the Pats and so lowly of the Chiefs, just remember who the NFL actually supports - and it isn't the Chiefs.
49rs defense is fenomenal ?? They got tore up on rushing by every team in the playoffs lol? Everyone literally saying that Mahomes took these guys to the superbowl 😂😂 it’s the chiefs defense that’s allowed this team to even make it to playoffs
It means the team basically everyone thought would win the SB after week 5, indeed won the SB. There’s no dishonor in losing to that juggernaut of a team 😅
Y'all gotta stop comparing Mahomes to Brady and the Patriots. Those guys were cheaters - you know it as does everyone else. Everything they ever accomplished should have an asterisks beside it. Mahomes is his own man and I don't think he'd ever let himself cheat, or anyone around him. He's already better than Brady.
The nfl is hipocritical they pick and choose who gets a pass other superbowl champs have lost and not get a pass if u are the greatest then win it if you dont then mahomes has to own it period
I want the Cheifs to get obliterated, but Mahomes 100% deserves a pass if he loses, even if he throws 3 picks. Mahomes has already had a ridiculous amount of elite performances in the playoffs, if he has a meltdown in the Superbowl now it won't change how elite he is
Dude, even if the Chiefs somehow lose, Mahomes isn't going to be obliterated. Why the hate? I mean, I hope for a good game and would never say anything like that about the 49rs...maybe because I still feel a little sorry for them celebrating way too early the last time these two teams met in a SB.
@columbia2635 I hate the Cheifs fanbase, or any fanbase with a dominant team. I like Mahomes and Kelce but their fans are beyond obnoxious. It's the same with Lebron, I actually like Lebron but I can't stand his loyalists. I want Lebron to lose so I can go through social media without seeing someone say Lebron shits amethyst
It took Brady 10 years to get ring #4 so Mahomes can lose Sunday and get 2 more rings in the next 5 years and will still have surpassed Brady's timeline comparison.
@@cutehumorhe doesn’t need to! Why does everyone move the bar every time Pat surpasses Brady on the timeline? “Is he gonna play till he’s 45?” Why does he have to? Nobody considers Vinny Tesdverde a all time great just because he played well into his 40’s. “Is he gonna win a SB with 2 different franchises?” Why would he need to Joe Montana didn’t and he was considered the GOAT for 30 years. Mahomes=MJ Brady=Kareem
She's acting like Mahomes is not a FIRST BALLOT hall of famer at 28 YEARS OLD!!!! Is Brady considered one of the worst QB's of all time because he lost 2 Super Bowls to Eli Manning of all people? That's what I thought. It's a dumb question.
The sports media is making Kelce (and the Swifties) the center of attention, so if the Chiefs lose because Kelce underperforms, Kelce, not Mahomes, will take the blame.
Weird statement. Are you saying that Kelce will get the blame if he underperforms and just throwing in the Swift thing because you need to pop in something conspiratorial? Because you literally said that if Kelce underperforms, he'll get the blame. I mean....duh. But it seems like you're trying to say that the NFL is trying to keep Mahomes from being blamed if the Chiefs lose because Kelce, not Mahomes underperformed. Do you get how ridiculous this comment is? If not, spelling it out...If the Chiefs lose because Kelce underperformed, for what reason would Mahomes have to take the blame for it. Sheesh...no conspiracy, bub.
@@kokoleka808No; however, the media will blame the quarterbacks for the loss regardless of celebrities off the field and other skill positions on the field. Anything else will get back page headlines from a football analytical perspective
"How did Mr. Irrelevant beat Patrick Mahomes?" SMH The same way Eli Manning beat Tom Brady. Nobody's saying he's terrible. They're just saying he's not top 5 in the NFL. That's not slander! The same way people rightly saying Jimmy G wasn't as good as he looked in this system. The same people were saying the same nonsense about how he was being slandered, and then it was proven true the moment he went to a different team.
getting the breaks completely beat off of him by a 40 some year old quarterback and then losing to Mr. irrelevant in Super bowls no you don’t get no pass
Nobody will call him the GOAT if he loses this Superbowl. That’s for sure. Most importantly because Tom Brady is far and away the GOAT. Also if he loses this game, he will be 2-2 in Superbowls. That ridiculous “debate” will be over for a while if he loses.
Everyone should stop hating on Mahomes and Brady. They are not the ones “paying “ the refs. You want to see atrocious calls go check out the Cowboys’ Super Bowl wins.
If anyone is lookin for an analytic outside of the superbowl that might affect the super bowl.. remember this, the kc chiefs are 0 and 1 in super bowls where the loved one of one of their members gets a dui right before the super bowl. Andy Reid's son crashed into a car right before the last super bowl and then they lost. Perhaps this is a running trend.
I think a better question is does Purdy get a pass if he loses? I think yes, easily, he’s 22-6 as a starter including his playoff record in 2 seasons. He’s also in a superbowl much faster than Lamar Jackson while making 850k while Lamar makes 50 mil 🤦🏻♂️. Embarrassing.
Purdy is on a cheap rookie deal, the pressure is all on Kyle and the rest of the team to take advantage of his contract. The pressure will only be on when he sign that big extension next year.
You mean the game where he had FOUR back ups at O-Line, was playing on a turf toe that needed immediate surgery the next day, rushed for over 500 yds behind the line of scrimmage that game (legit stat) the most ever in NFL history, was making the most incredible throws of his career and the receivers were dropping them, not to mention playing a STACKED and healthy Tampa team that was top 5 in offense and defense vs mahomes 20 something ranked defense???…yea I’d say he deserves a pass for that game.
@@cjboyer4355 😂yeah that game, see all the excuses you just used...him running 500 yards in the back field is on him and means he couldn't handle the pressure, if you're running 500 yards into the back field like Tim Tebow then flinging desperation throws down field while being chased and falling down you can't call them great throws or blame the receivers for not catching them
@@bigman7570 they hit the receivers in the hands, he had back ups going against a top 5 pass rush, we have 6 years of data to conclude Mahomes is not Tebow. None of your arguments are valid.
It's a fair question because people are inherently unfair in their judgements. When discussing the GOAT status of Mahomes, he absolutely does not get a pass for the superbowl loss to Tom Brady. He doesn't get a pass for the Conference Championship loss to Brady where Patrick was visually and statistically the better player. If he loses to purdy, he absolutely will not be given a pass, even if he deserves one, and purdy will be given credit beyond the significant amount he will be justifiably due. That's just the way we are as fans.
Not a fair question...shouldn't even be a question. The fact that anyone would question Mahomes talent at this time, when he's already broken most records out there, is pure stupidity. They wouldn't have questioned Brady, even when it was widely known that Brady/Pats were cheaters. If the Chiefs lose this weekend, I doubt it will be Mahomes fault, no matter what. The team/WRs have had a terrible year with Mahomes still striving to be his best (even when his best was not throwing the ball to guys you couldn't trust to catch it), so I doubt he'll suddenly be unable to put up a good performance. QBs are only on the field about half the time, they don't play each other, and they essentially play 2 different teams. If the QB is to blame, it's because they didn't play well..interceptions that were nobody's fault but their own, bad/uncatchable throws, holding on to the ball too long. So the fair question is no question at all.
Purdy is the most criticized athlete I've ever seen lol. Man gets hated on in every situation. Agree with you on Josh Allen tho mans done nothing but lead the league in interceptions yet he is somehow an mvp finalist and a top 5 qb
Yea man you should’ve been a former NFL player, director of player personnel for two franchises, and sports broadcaster instead of him! What happened though your love of unloading trucks at the warehouse outweigh your love of football?
