@@elchucofried5683 Theyre taking it too far recently though. Theres an RPM war now. Before, foreign substances were just used to increase grip. Sunscreen and rosin for instance doesnt effect the spin rate that much. All the new stuff are like PED's for pitchers

@@michaelhurlbert9492 yes, when people argued with me about spin rate not being that big of a deal, and they argued that pitchers would never sacrifice a couple MPHs on their fast ball to increase spin, I would pop the hood of my truck and say “watch the fan at 2000 rpm, now watch it at 2600 rpm”. That would usually get my point across. A 25% increase is freaking drastic on how the object that is spinning is seen by the human eye, and the brain is non voluntarily having to judge that spin. Equate that to a baseball where the speed, placement, movement, AND now increased spin all has to be interpreted by the hitter in roughly 400 milliseconds from hand to plate, it becomes much more difficult to hit. The blink of an eye is 400 milliseconds.

@Boe O Yeah, to show MLB the effects it can have. If they weren’t doing anything about it and Cole got $300mil from the Yankees he obviously wants part of that. Him and Cole have beef from their time at UCLA anyways. He won the Cy Young last year and its not surprising that MLB are now seemingly taking action. The MLB just looks the other way when the Astros are the ones cheating for some reason.

He goes more in-depth on the specific substances and how much harder hitting a ball with just a few hundred more rpm is. It's not as humorous or in the same style of this show, but it's top-notch for a more in-depth explanation of everything.

It doesn't have to be just singles, just consistent contact and allow the defense to actually play baseball. The current version of baseball hardly needs fielders.

Hell yeah. Give me a game with singles, baserunning, and clutch throws instead of just mashing homers, taking walks, and strikeouts. It would make the homers more epic, too. If they don't come as often, they're more exciting and meaningful.

I agree. If we want to just watch only a pitcher vs batter scenario, we should switch to a home-run derby style game. What is supposed to make homers fun is that they are supposed to be hard to do. And we need all of that other activity to keep the game interesting in between the homers.

I do appreciate the intricacies of the game, but unfortunately in today's game they dont come into play 80% of the pitches/plays. Baseball viewership has been on the decline since the 80s. MLB just continues to react react react to "scandals" instead of trying to cultivate legit viewers and new lovers of the sport. They are missing out on generations of fans who probably dont even know what spider tack is. They just find the game boring unfortunately--162 games isnt helping either.

@@3chrizzl I’d add that the slow pace of the game is a put-odd for many too. A pitchers’ duel ending 2-1 with a play at the plate making the difference is exciting for me, not so much for casuals (to use the parlance of our time).

Actually in the classic Myth Busters series, they proved that corking the bad does not improve the bat and make home-runs easier. They found that the cork inside actually absorbs energy rather than acting like a spring that helped generate more energy. Basically what that means is it’s harder to hit home runs with a corked bat than a real bat.
