A little experiment with my Godin ACS guitar playing Pat Metheny's beautiful "Antonia". There is nothing pre-recorded--everything you hear is generated in real-time by what I play on the guitar running via a Boss GP-10 into Ableton Live.

Hi Itzhak, the GP-10's guitar sound and MIDI output are running through Ableton Live (which you can see on the laptop screen behind me), and just before that point I step on a pedal that tells Ableton to turn off the opening sampled accordion sound's track and turn on the guitar output track as well as the sampled strings and melodica. Hope that makes sense! Alan

Wonderful - I'm trying to get familiar with the Godin guitars as well. Is that an ACS SA - Slim?

Thank you! Yes that's the ACS-SA slim. The Grand Concert model has a wider neck and makes more sound acoustically. And I think there is a model now that is like the ACS but with a very slightly wider neck than the slim. For what it's worth, I can certainly say that I have found it an inspiring instrument.

Thank you! Yes, in fact I more or less concluded from this experiment of playing with the added MIDI synths that I wanted to try to use the guitar synth without them! I've got a couple of new videos out that are more "acoustic" in nature if you want to check them out!

Wow. There are a lot of good renditions of Antonia out there but this is easily one of the best, if not THE best I've heard. Tremendously well done.

Thank you! In the videos I've made recently I haven't been using any MIDI-driven samples (like the accordion and string stuff in this one), but this reminds me that it can be pretty cool to incorporate those sounds.

Beautiful sounding instrument. Even fantastic playing! Pat's Antonia evokes so many emotions. For me it's a piece of a bitter sweet memory of a true love's past.

This is great. Apart from the synth addition, this is I think the closest rendition, emotionally speaking, to the original one by PM. All others sound like too rigid, a bit like "over-quantized" .... I can say this because I have heard many fingerstyle version of this piece. Thank you for playing beautifully, ... I handclapped first time before I play it for more :))
