Damn this is sort of depressing because this band of his is just lacking what his group use to be. The sound is missing and not right here. This band is NOTHING like the PMG. Why can't Metheny get some awesome musicians and reform his "Group"? Piano player is decent but this band doesn't even have the great energy of the past. Metheny is still a talented & skilled guitar player as he ever was. I wonder if he is just being cheap not getting a solid group together anymore. This performance lacks any energy & swag that the PMG had. Really sad.
I agree, been to many PMG concerts back in the day, never a bad set or performance from his group back then. These days his "try out" bands seem to be more like auditions than well put together shows though Pat always shines through with his playing a changeup is needed here. I'm glad I got to see and hear PMG in their prime, not so sure I would pay to see a concert like this though.
@@RuggeroSassi Il fatto è che Metheny ha capito tardi l'importanza e il genio di Mays nel contesto del P.M.G, già dal 2010 il loro rapporto si era incrinato; questo pezzo senza l'intro di Lyle non è lo stesso pur essendo Metheny un grande musicista e compositore. Diciamo che avevano anche una visione della vita e delle cose molto diversa. Purtroppo è scomparso troppo presto il pianista geniale e raffinato.
