Excellent, informative content and wonderful narrative, I've been enjoying your channel for a year or so and look forward to your next Bio, Thank you :-)
@@CoolClassics yes, I have a bunch, but the one that stood out when I watched Fred Gwynne and Pay Priest was Phil Silvers, he struck me as being a very interesting person, Thanks again CC, keep up the great work !
You have to wonder two things: 1) What did they sign the Watson girl for, just general roles, or that movie specifically? 2) If season three went on, would Pat still be Marilyn?
@@charles2241 I'm pretty dang sure Pat would not have been back. However they might have signed the other actress even of there were no Minster movie. My Spidey senses tell me that's the case on both of your queries.
@@communityorganizer5645 The question is, did they get the awful movie results in quick enough to decide to pull the plug? Also recall, as Pat said, she was under contract too, so on the one hand, you would think they would give it to Pat, but on the other, why would you switch back to Pat if the movie were a success, assuming you made the movie because ratings for the show weren't good enough? Do recall there's some precedent with sticking with the tv girl, which may had been a completely different situation, but recall the situation when they made the Batman movie and didn't use the original Catwoman, and when they came back, if I'm not mistaken, they stayed with Julie Newmar. I think Eartha Kitt came along later, or, maybe, she came in right after the movie, I don't know. I was always thinking Newmar couldn't make the movie due to prior commitments, then the movie, then back to her on the tv show again. I checked and indeed that did occur, for Eartha wasn't in them till S3E13. While we know Watson was under contract, therefore used (the excuse) Kitt didn't have any work for four years after Batman. Both Debby and Pat had work immediately following the Munster series, so just for continuity's sake, you might stick with Pat, because apparently, they were pleased with both girls. Another thing about the Munsters movie, do remember, it wasn't just Watson that was the change, but going to color, and you'll notice also that an awful lot of movies in the period went out of their way to use redheads, therefore having more color on the set. You would presume, therefore, if the movie were a success, they would stick with Watson to have that extra color as well. In any event, I would wager to guess that if you made the move in the movie, you wouldn't use Pat again, but I'm not so sure they considered the Marilyn character important enough to think that deeply about it. They were basically putting in a new girl due to her youngness and maybe that extra color, but they were really banking on the switch to color I would bet. With all the problems with Fred Gwynne, you would also have to wonder, that if losing Fred were the end of the show, he might not had been willing to give it another go (though did the movie).
I think if the movie did good, they were going to go color for a 3rd season and they would have went with the new girl again. Personally, I would be happy with a 3rd season in black and white and keeping Pat Priest :)
This guy isn’t simply the best at what he does; he’s the only one. This show, Cool Classics, is singular. There’s not another with precisely the same approach. And such respect for these actors; it truly shines through. I reckon that generally speaking this show might be a little long for RU-vid. But he could double the length and get away with it. Because the quality is simply superior.
@@frannyleyden7988 Thank you. I thought Spicybean’s comment was rather unnecessary. This guy obviously puts a lot of time and effort (imagine trying to chase down all those clips) and deserves far more than to be referred to as background. That’s downright rude now that I think about it.
My Father was a set decorator at universal studios and worked on the Munsters. I got to go see them film a lot of episodes as it was my favorite show. I still run into Butch Patrick and Pat Priest and autograph shows in Los Angeles. When I brought my Munster script’s for them to sign for me. I also showed them the picture that they signed for me in 1965. This was around 2013 or so and they couldn’t believe I still had mimeographed Scripts.
I've been a big fan of the Munsters my whole life, and it flat out blew my mind that Marilyn's mom was the Treasurer of the United States!!! Your videos are always full of really interesting facts, and when I play them on my big screen TV, my whole family will stop whatever they're doing and watch. Your narration and the clips are superb. Congratulations!
In 2019 Stern Pinball release a Munster's Pinball machine. At the Texas Pinball Festival of that year they had 2 of the hot rods from the show, Eddie and Marilyn. I had a display piece I had made from an earlier Munster's Slot machine belly glass that I brought to the show with me. I asked her to sign it and she graciously agreed. Since there currently wasn't a line for autographs, I sat down and had a most pleasant conversation with Mrs Priest. She was so sweet and gracious and we talked about life and family and other glorious things. I will also treasure that meeting and keep that signed display in my game room in a place of honor. Thanks for putting this video together, I enjoyed learning more of her background and life events.
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 William Faulkner wrote literature that went page after page without a paragraph. Nothing wrong with this! Go watch Weird Al's Word Grimes
What I’m really happy about is that she’s still alive and well and actually enjoys the character of Marilyn and her kid brother Eddie…. What I like about your videos is that you tell us what happened before, during, and after someone’s career. And it looks like Pat had a successful real estate career and had fun wheeling and dealing in classic cars. A wonderful woman!
Loved Pat Priest. It’s a shame she didn’t find continued success in Hollywood. She was a good actress. She was great as Sue Ann’s sister on the MTM Show. Sounds like she found her happiness and her calling in Utah. Good for her!❤️
I was one of the people who watched the last Munster video that you didd! The algorithm reached out to me and I’m so glad it did. Your channel doesn’t trash talk people and is so entertaining and so well researched. I look forward to binge watching even more of your work!
Personally, I enjoy hearing of the personal foibles they go through...I mean, why did her husband, and father of her kids, eventually file for divorce?...Was he thinking she was fooling around in Hollywood?...Man, she was so gorgeous, although that aspect of her never hit me when she was in the series...Divorce is frowned upon by the Mormons, so I guess she had renounced her situation by then..I was hoping you could say that she and Elvis had "a thing"...but then I remembered, that Elvis himself was very reluctant to get involved with any woman who was a mother!..Elvis, you should have broken your rule, with her!
C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S ! ! ! You deserve all the applause in the world! It makes me feel so good to see these "old friends" I grew up with, but knew so little about. T H A N K S.
I remember Pat in 1986 when I stayed with my friend Jim, who happened to live next Door to her in Sherman Oaks. It was alway a pleasure to see her and chat when she had the time out of her busy schedule. Jim told me she was a bit reluctant to talk about being Marilyn in the Munsters, so I never mentioned it to her. Anyway, Thanks for those beautiful flowers Pat 😘
These are really fantastic how you put the personal backstory of the life of these people into these! I loved the description of the casting process for the Munsters from her perspective, and the soft and friendly cadence of your voice adds to the empathy I felt for the person being profiled.
Wonderful presentation! I was a pre-teen when all these great shows were on the air. It was so much fun. Batman was great, but I certainly missed the Munsters when it was taken off the air. Great casting. Al, Fred, and Yvonne, Pat, and Butch.
Another excellent video. Good job on the research. Every time I watch your videos, I learn something. For example, Elizabeth Montgomery helping Pat Priest with getting her work. That's the kind of person she was. Hats off to Pat Priest for going on and finding a new career in real estate and Victorian home restoration.
That must have been a stressful transition...and just how did she acquire the know-how to fix up those homes?...I guess she just hired professional carpenters to follow her wishes....Quite a woman, she used her looks and acting skills when younger, and then used her brains to forge another career...she must have gotten such "moxie" from her amazing mother, who did not base her remarkable success on looks...Pat must have gotten her stunning looks from the Dad.
Congrats on hitting 100k subscribers! It was always funny that the rest of the Munster family thought that Marilyn was the ugly one and set up dates for her. I remember as a kid thinking that it would have been so cool to be Eddy living in that wild household. It's great to hear that Pat Priest is still alive and doing well and enjoying more then a little notoriety for playing Marilyn. Thank you for making these awesome videos!
Yep, I subbed because of the Fred Gwynne video. Not that I'm a particular fan of The Munsters or even American. But I do remember the programme and it was a VERY good retrospective.
What a terrific episode. You do your research so well and make it fun. I loved her on the Munsters…was nine at the time and saw it when it first aired.
Another great story!Marilyn was one of my first crushes I was happy to find out she had such a wonderful life. positive and interesting you’re really good at what you do can’t wait for more
I was a fan of the show in the 1960's and didn't realize Pat Priest wasn't the original Marilyn until about 3 months ago. Some people say I'm slow to learn, I guess they have a point. Thanks for your video, I spend most of my present thinking about the past.
100k 🥳 congratulations 🎉 I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. So glad you’re getting the recognition you deserve. You put a lot of time, research & effort in your episodes & it shows! Keep em coming! 🤙😀🥰🤪👌
Congrats on 100K! You put a lot of effort into these videos - and I always hear a surprise or two! Happy to see you getting the recognition you've earned!
Thank you and keep on telling the whole world about the wonderful world of classic TV, the depth is awesome 👍 I'm 62and I remember the enjoyment of these times captain kangaroo, little rascals, and the beginning of color tv programming, keep up the good work
Congratulations on the new and well deserved subscribers! Your videos are so well researched, written and you're narrating a second to none. You are the Bob Ross of RU-vid narrations!
Bro! My last video ( Fred Gwynne ) blew up and took others with it! All of a sudden people started subscribing! Thanks for always being Cool! I Love your ( Still Alive ) videos! 😁👍
*~*~*~ Congratulations on 100K!!! ~*~*~* As for this excellent video - I wonder if making The Munsters helped in her future interests in restoring old Victorians? It must have!
The charm of the show was its quirkiness. I enjoyed seeing her in the series She endured beyond the series which is lovely. Life IS fleeting in fame or otherwise. I would love to met the last remaining characters. I did meet a few Star Trek legends at the conventions. I must see that Elvis movie. My mom loved Elvis. He passed away when I was 10 yrs. old. Howard Hughes the year before. My Papa retired from Hughe's tools in 1976. I have his certificate.
Yay! You made it to 100k subs! Congrats man. Love your content. Your videos are always interesting. Thanks for all the effort you put in just to entertain us viewers. It'll be 200k before you know it.
Gladly remember The Munsters. Even as kids we knew it was a mock up but the cast were great characters. I was once on a winning team at a high profile Trivia Night. It was tied till the last round which was 60’s TV. We blitzed the round to win.
I never knew much about Pat Priest but I always enjoyed her in The Munsters. From this greatly researched video, Pat looks to have had some ups and downs but always bounced back. I’m surprised though she didn’t get further in Hollywood-but it seems it all turned out to be a very happy ending anyway! Thanks Classic TV for another informative video and congratulations 🎉🎈 on your rise in viewer ship! 👏👏👏
Considering she was a young mother of two, and competing with other Hollywood hotties, it is amazing that she got as far as she did!...Most women-aside from Raquel welch-would have been shunned by Hollywood for being too domesticated.
I had no idea that she was so physically attractive...it was trendy back then, for starlets to do Playboy photo features...I wonder if she ever considered that!
I absolutely LOVE this channel, I'm a newbie around here and put your videos on when I need to relax, some of the facts you dig up about the actors are so incredible. You have an excellent channel and congratulations to you on 100k subs!!

This is such a cool video! I had no idea Pat from Utah my home and I lived in Bountiful. I still enjoy watching the Munsters even though I’ve seen every episode several times. She was the best Marilyn ever! Thanks
That was Great. The way you put that story together was well what can I say? I learned SO MUCH about her life! I Really Can't Express how much you do for our knowledge base! Hats Off to you, Sir!
Another great video! Congratulations on hitting the big milestone! I love your content, all the research you put into it, the clips, and your positive attitude make each one so much fun to watch!

Congratulations! I knew you were worried for nothing I knew your channel would take off 🥳you just have to find the right audience. I was really young when the Munsters were on TV but I did notice the change in actresses and honestly I preferred Pat🥰😎💯
