When I was in high school I was in the hospital recovering from major surgery and waiting on lab results to see if it was cancer. The nurses would watch The 700 Club and Pat Robertson comes on the show explaining that cancer is the devil and we need to pray for all of those out there who have the devil of cancer in them. The fact that you say this chap has appointed himself as a mouthpiece for God, indicates to me a couple of things. 1.that you do believe in God 2. that this disqualifies him in your mind as a valid testimonial for either God or the Bible 3. that you still think or at least allow yourself the luxury to think that there are genuine Christians elsewhere. ...and if these things are at least half true in your mind then reason would afford that you outh not necessarily write the Bible off - which speaks of both the power and wisdom of God and that real Christians did at least exist in ancient times (2,000 yr ago).
