@@RCC.1962 / You hear two stories: One being that the road or touring management company was awful, and the only way the band made any money was on tour, so they were basically on tour from 1978 to the end of 1980 with a management team they all disliked immensely. The other thing you hear is that Pat Thrall and Pat Travers were not getting along and Tommy Aldrich was actively working a side deal with Ozzy's team and was hinting he was leaving soon and so Adrich and Thrall just quit during the one long tour break in 1980 - and that was the end
@Andrew_M_Ward PT said they left because they were unhappy with management and the money. I don't believe there was any rift between the PT's. The drugs might have been a factor in Tommy leaving. He left Black Oak Arkansas for that reason.
4:02 saw Pat at great southern music hall in Orlando 1979, sat in very front row, couldn't hear for a week. One of the best concerts I ever went to, thank you Pat.
Saw that same lineup in Oakland. I didn't even know who DL was. They were pretty good, though. I always remind my younger brother that I saw the DL original lineup. He is 5 years younger and a huge DL fan.
Listening in June 2024! Saw PT during this tour...in Phoenix, AZ 1980. Then i saw him again in 1981 for the Radioactive tour. NEVER seen anything like it before, or since then.
1979 was the GFWYK tour. I saw them in August '79 and PT had the same shirt and pants that were on the album covers. He even wore the same watch. 1980 was the Crash and Burn tour, and I caught that one in Oakland. Radioactive was indeed 1981 and saw that one in Daily City CA. Unfortunately, it was Ritchie's turn to headline.
I was there with you in Oakland for the Crash & Burn tour and Raidioactive opening for Rainbow. First time seeing PT was in late December 1980 opening for Cheap Trick also in Oakland. Caught Hughes/Thrall at the Old Waldorf in SF in ‘82 with Tommy on drums. That was a cool show. Just a high school kid but a great time to be a rock ‘n’ roll fan. Hard rock at its peak.
Pat Travers was in his prime with the fantastic lineup of Pat Thrall, Tommy and Mars. Pat Thrall added what Pat needed and more. Why Pat moved on or was fired was never explained? Saw Pat Travers in concert with and without Pat Thrall and it was never the same without Pat Thrall. Pat Travers has had too many lineup changes, with his lineup getting worse thru his long career.
Sorry I’m a bit obsessed with the wammy bar. Isn’t this early to have a locking trem. I can’t really see it but I assume it’s an early Floyd. And what pickup is in the bridge position? Sounds great.
Pat, why did you ever leave the Travers band???? You two were the best guitarists ever but only when playing with each other. Why would you go become a record producer with your guitar skill???? You need to get back with Pat and make another album with him. I dont need to say more, just read the rest of the comments here, they say everything I would want to say.
I was and still am a travers fan, however if him and pat thrall weren't on so much coke they could have been legends ! Pat thrall was the best thing to happen with line up, besides Tommy Aldridge(a real jerk) when I met him with Ozzy. To much drugs for travers and thrall. Interesting fact, look at his wishbone around his neck, when I met travers it was a two way tooter for coke! Glad he's still alive and thrall too. Peace.
That songs a hot mess. They have the basics of a great riff and grove but try to get tricky with weirdd fills and breaking up the tempo, and throwing in some funk rhythm... Egad. It should have been a much heavier, better song.
