I don't know about everyone else but there is just so much focus on lead guitar, drums, and vocals in X Japan that I sometimes forget how amazingly talented Pata and Heath are.
I feel the same way!! I think part of it is that toshi, yoshiki and sugizo have really strong stage presence so they stand out no matter where they are
Anyone who doubts Sugizo's skills please look at the videos where he's demonstrating the boss gt-10 effects. Dude was slap-popping, shredding, and doing tap-harmonics like crazy and he was just noodling.
pata old school rocker still kicking it hard. Sugizo old school rocker noodling around with the whammy bar. They both rock!! heath isn`t no taiji but he rocks imo. Love Pata though
PATA is the great Gandalf of the Rock n Roll world! During the 80's he is PATA the grey now he is resurrected to PATA the white with great calmness and wisdom in his guitar powers. While ToshI is like Boruto in great timeskip. His voice becomes better! He is now immune to Omnipotence (brainwashing). While Yoshiki and Sugizo becomes the musical vampires. Since Regency period both of them are playing classical instruments piano and violin their passion for music through ages and cheers from their fans gives them the energy to survive and immortality. While Heath is one of the main heroes in Final Fantasy Universe. His bass guitar is his arsenal to kill the final boss. When all of them combined they are invinsible!
That whole argument was pretty hilarious, I bet Heath practiced the whole way through that, and If Taiji was here he would be doing the same. Let us all give respect to all musicians who play with X Japan!
I don't see why Yoshiki would be embarrassed. He didn't want Heath in the band in the first place, and hide had to persuade him to give Heath a chance. And in the long run Yoshiki was very happy with Heath because contrary to Taiji, Heath never critized Yoshiki's decisions and always followed in passive agreement. And that is exactly what Yoshiki wants.
@palkiasmaster235 Ummm check out 1992 Extasy Summit where he's playing "X" with a bunch of other guys. He rips through Pata AND hide's solos effortlessly. Like I said, he can play anything that hide can play. One can't use the same criteria to evaluate his solos in Luna Sea. They're not a metal band, it's a completely different style of music and the focus is emotive playing and dynamics, not shred.
There's no really competition in a guitar solo... even though they kinda weren't solo per se. But X japan was never about amazing technique, I think that's where they struggle a bit, but song writing they are amazing
Pata plays really like American guitarists such as Slash, his style is different from Sugizo so i personally think that we can not compete two of them together(sorry for my bad English)
@visualrocker69 sugizo dont impress me i saw some of his solos with luna sea and they dont are such an awesome thing anyway if you have some videos of an awesome solo by sugizo i appreciate if you show them to me
@xXDARKYOSHIKIXx now that i know a lot of things about guitar i wonder why everyone is saying that hide is a bad player i mean he can do pinch harmonics in her solos he can shred he can do tapping but in her solos he never shows all of his skills and sugizo is like kirk hammet just a lot of effects
@PIXUTUS I agree with you, it's sad.. take the Love Replica part at the end '<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="377">6:17</a>' they are totally out of sync playing together. And the worst thing is, it looks like they don't even care ...
@Kougasomoi Well, Taiji was a much better bassist, and, if I'm not mistaken, there was a sort of Taiji/Heath bass battle at Yokohama. (I heard this from a Japanese guy who went; unfortunately, I couldn't. T________T) Heath was destroyed. I don't think it's necessarily that the bassists are not represented enough, it's just I think it would be embarrassing for X Japan to represent Heath like that.
It would be embarrassing for Yoshiki to release any footage of their replacement bassist getting destroyed by someone many believe Yoshiki kicked from the band. Heath's bass solos are entertaining, and I do enjoy that particular one, but when it comes to skill, Taiji wiped the floor with him.
@visualrocker69 yeah it sounds good anyway x solo is not that hard i want to see something awesome from him and a guitar solo shows all the skill and style of the player but like in this solo i only see a overused whammy bar look at pata he is doing a good blues but sugizo i dont know if he is playing with all his skills
No, a level of technical ability is not an opinion. Heath can't play bass like Taiji could; that's a fact. Now, whether you think he's a better musician or has better solos all around is your opinion, and I will respect that opinion (because I don't think he's a bad musician), even though I don't agree with it. ^^
It would embarrass him because TAIJI was a much better bassist, and it would be clear that Yoshiki would take someone worse if it precluded any arguments to what he wants.
Different levels of technical ability--that's a comparison. TAIJI was better. Heath isn't a great bassist. He's an okay bassist--nothing more, nothing less (as far as his work with X goes). Now, some of his compositions outside of X (not challenging), but beautiful to the ears.
KoreaxxLove Their styles are worlds apart. Taiji loved to show off his fine skills with his crazy out of whack style. Heath is strictly orthodox in style and doesn't go outside that realm. I'm sure he can if he wanted to, but it just would be Heath. I do quite miss his solo work...
All this conversation on these yokohama concerts just proved that X is a fangirl/boy-band. So much talk, so little knowlegde. CLOSE YOUR EYES, FORGET WHO'S PLAYING AND LISTEN. I hate it when they can be crap but still millions of people are saying things like "the two most techincal and amazing players in the world
I can´t hear Sugizo´s solo over that awfull amount of delay. Same for Heath and his dist... Pata in the other hand had an awesome tone on this concert. Maybe it´s the natural reverb on the stage...
"You can only tell someone she's WRONG before it gets old." "Yeah I know..." What do you think that implies? You are wrong if you say Heath is more skilled on bass. If you think his compositions are better--that's an opinion. But, the skill required to play bass like Taiji is much higher than to play like Heath. I'm aware skill isn't everything, but it's still not an opinion.
The way your construing your sentence doesn't even fit the context. That's a really awkward reply. Anyone would misconstrue that. That's interesting. Since you're debating back with me, I assume your daughter is more mature than you, too? Of course I'm going to tell you that you're wrong. You keep insisting that it's your opinion Heath is more skilled, and that's not an opinion. That statement is just a flat-out lie.
damn I can't stand sugizo. The guy knows 1 scale and pulls his whammy bar, he puts up nothing more than a show but I guess that's what the fans want...... His sound does fit him perfectly: artificial, fake and .... crappy hah
