Are Arcteryx hardshells too "Pro"? Is Patagonia not "Pro" enough? Let us know what you think! #patagonia #arcteryx #rain #gearreviews #norway #rainjacket #hardshell
Thanks Lads, You have sold me. I was looking at the AR in Aus which is about $AU800A, whereas the Torrentshell is about $AU270. Not that I'm thrifty, just looking for a decent jacket. Will take your advice re the washing. From a 74 year old, who likes to travel. but at the moment every second day at home is wet. Have just subscribed.
There is no "Thinner or thicker Gore-Tex", the is Gore-Tex which is the membrane in the middle and there is a thicker or thinner outer layer (Which is ripstop nylon most of the time). Also the Patagonia torrentshell 3L is about the best value rain jacket on the market period!
Big Time Dimi that is spot on analysis. Sorry if we did not make it clear enough but you are 100% it’s not the goretex that is thick and thin. Glad you agree about the Torrenshell it is such a winner in our opinion.
Hey BTG’s. My wife is looking for a good rain jacket but she doesn’t wanna look like a mountaineer or a crossing guard, she wants to look like a businesswoman. What do you recommend?
The Patagonia Women’s Torrentshell Parka is a winner, it is longer length and in black it will allow your wife to stay dry from the helicopter to her board meetings while never being out of style!
Yeah we agree that would be a good comparison and would like to do it for you. However our issue is that all though we love the outdoors we have jobs and feel like either of those jackets are going to be plenty good for 95% of the population. We think those reviews are best handled by people who spend time in the outdoors for a living, mountain guides etc. Does that make sense? Want to go camping on the weekend, and have something to run around town in get the Torrentshell. You want the next step up fine get a Beta AR or a Triolet but are you actually going to be using it enough to notice the differences between the two? I am sure some people will but we would have to do extensive testing to really figure that out and at this time we just are not in the outdoors enough to be a definitive authority on the best super shells. We hope one day we will be able to test all the gear! Thanks for the comment!
