Patangarh Ka Hero | Animation Film on Gond Art | Documentary Film | IIAD 

Communication Design graduate Nanki Ghuman @nanki__art (Batch 2020-2024) developed an animated short (documentary) film, “Patangarh Ka Hero,” exploring the origin and evolution of gond art and focusing on the village of Patangarh✨
Patangarh is a small village in Dindori, famous for its rich tradition of producing world-class painters depicting tribal culture and heritage in their paintings, passed on by the pioneer Jangarh Singh Shyam. In her film, Nanki tries to capture the essence of Patangarh, offering a glimpse into the authenticity of the tribe’s cultural heritage🌸
During her fieldwork, she documented the lives of local artists, stayed with them, and understood how Gond is not only a commercial part of the tribe’s life but is a part of them. Nanki uses pixelation, animation, illustrations merging them with live footage to create a film that speaks to a true blend of contemporary touch with art’s traditional aesthetic💕
Her project was closely mentored by Shaaz Ahmed (Associate Professor, Communication Design, IIAD). @nanki__art recently bagged the prestigious @mokkhoiff award under the,"Student Short Film" category under the guidance of Shaaz Ahmed.
