Super basic overview of the TG77. I make a patch from scratch using only two operators. Really, just one operator, and one carrier with a frequency of 0Hz. Even with this basic level of FM synthesis, some great sounds can be created.
The Yamaha SY77 and the module version, TG77, are amazing machines and remain the pinnacle of FM hardware synths to this day.

They are an awesome bit of kit. I'd never get rid of mine. Even the Montage (I also have) doesn't have anywhere near the depth the SY/TG77 has with how you can assign feedback to any operator with an available input... sensational. The Montage doesn't have this. It's a bit of a pity Yamaha didn't revisit the SY/TG and put 128 note poly on it! Still, 2021 it's a classic and it's still current!

Wonderful!!! I love my SY77 but learning it is really hard by only manual. Your video really helps, and you do a great job at explanation. Please make more when you have time, they bring new life into one of my prized synths. Still hunting down how to change octaves on this synth (sigh) cheers Ryan
